I checked the logs for both service pods, to see if i could catch some message resulting from the queryservice updater pocking the mediawiki backend log and i found nothing.
I also checked the logs explorer for any communication from the QSU pod to the MW 1.39 backend pod and there are no logs.
with these basic checks i can conclude the query service updater currently does not contact the mediawiki backend service on staging.

The patch shows that we can create new wikis using kubernetes jobs. The job runs a mediaiwki container that executes install.php. It create a new database with the appropriate schema and install the wiki using given parameters.
I made the job in a different namespace for the sake of poc.

I checked the google cloud console and the keys are indeed migrated.
On wikibase.dev: I submitted the sign up and contact us forms. the recaptcha was triggered and it worked as expected with no errors in the console
