I will close this one and open a new task for the review requested fixes
To be honest I think this can be marked as done :)

In regards to the request that the site should be published at 8:30 UTC on Jan 15th 2026, I am wondering if we can use an apache based solution like the following
Would it be ok with you if we do that next week, on December 22nd?

Here are the replies I got back:

This can be marked as done. Here is the respective commit https://gitlab.wikimedia.org/toolforge-repos/wikipedia25-years-of-wikipedia/-/commit/bec74abf4e5dee219057df5b060e1be38b558184

The request at T408168 to turn wikipedia25.org into a redirect to wikimediafoundation.org and the request over here "we were asked to disallow public access to the wikipedia25 website until 08:30 UTC 15 Jan 2026" are conflicting with each other.

@Dzahn are there any updates for wikipedia25.org/? Is there an estimate of when it can be connected and ready for things to be deployed to?
Also we were asked to disallow public access to the wikipedia25 website until 08:30 UTC 15 Jan 2026, which is when the press release goes live for the 25th birthday. Is there any mechanism in place for such a task?
before we can deploy to production we would like to move this repo. But that would be within Gitlab rather than to Gerrit.
We would like it to be under "repos/sre/miscweb/wikipedia25" alongside other existing microsites:
https://gitlab.wikimedia.org/explore/projects/starred?name=miscweb
We would use a "move repo" feature in Gitlab and do this for you.
@taavi I am in progress of doing so, it will be done by Dec 12th. Possibly earlier.

Thanks for the heads up, I will have a look at it as soon as possible

Who will be responsible for security review, when this is sharing important top level domains ?
Nov 18 2025
we can just let git clone the repo contents into a document root of a standard Apache and it doesn't require installing additional software
Forgot to add the current repo https://gitlab.wikimedia.org/toolforge-repos/wikipedia25-years-of-wikipedia and an outdated preview https://wikipedia25-years-of-wikipedia.toolforge.org/
Hello @Dzahn! I am the person responsible for developing the microsite.
