Description

In MS Word, OO Write and Google, if you select a text and add quotation marks, it inserts quotation marks around selected text. That would be expected from VE.

Steps to reproduce. Texted in FF 31.0, FF 31.0 safe mode, FF 31.0 logg out, Google Chrome 36.0.1985.125 m:

  1. Go to this page: https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waze
  2. Click on Edit
  3. Select the string Wejz
  4. Click on Insert > Special Character > Symboly > „“
  5. Selected text disappear

I tried google docs Insert-> Special character->Punctuation

  • you cannot insert a pair characters in one click: a pair of quotation marks will require two clicks
  • if you select(highlight) a portion of text - Insert always will insert the selected character in place of the selection. The selected portion of text will be deleted. Mac TextEdit works the same.

Closing the issue since the behavior is expected and consistent with other text editors.

And who sais its expected? It is expected by you, but not expected by me. All pair characters could work on one click.
