[UX] Investigate possible hover-over functionality improvements for wikidata related entries in the wikipedia watchlist
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Investigate what could be helpful for users to improve the hover overs
(Currently just title and description as in wikidata)

Scope:

  • wikipedia recent changes (not wikidata recent changes)
  • the summary at the end of the change log, which is in brackets
  • inside this summary, there are links to the property or item. This is where the 'hover overs' could be, for example

This ticket can be done after the UX interviews using data from that

Feedback from enwiki on hover overs:
Can a hover/mouse-over tooltip be aggregated? (show the entire changelog rather than just the label of each P/Q)

Acceptance criteria

  • decision on whether to alter hover-over functionality

and if so,

  • designs for new hover-overs
  • probably will lead to new ticket generation

Tasks

  • consider accessibility
  • consider mobile

^The screenshot above demonstrates how the hover overs currently appear on wikidata recent changes (which is different to wikipedia recent changes, the topic of this ticket). It's an example of what we could do.
It shows: Title | Description

Current situation: Currently on Wikipedia Recent Changes, there is no hover on cummary of changes coming from Wikidata.
