Add support for Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) for wiki mail
Open, LowPublic

Description

Brand Indicators for Message Identification is a specification led by a few mail providers to show branding on sender verified emails. It has been recently implemented by a few major free mail providers. While it has been submitted -as of July 2022- it has no approval status at IETF.

However, I have seen some requests, questions to implement that for mails coming from wiki- which wouldn't be too impossible, given implementation would require DMARC support, an SVG (or a few, one for each project) and an update on DNS records.

The reasoning behind this ticket is:

  1. Decide if this is something we want to support, not support or wait until proper standardization
  2. In the positive case, how to implement it

By creating a ticket we will make sure to lead people to a single location for tracking, in both positive or negative decision. This is also something that we can decide on and later review if standardization changes.

I created this when I saw someone mentioning it on discord. Ping @Vgutierrez @BBlack (I personally have no thought, I didn't know this was a thing).
