Happy Halloween from the Today show!

It was a spooky Friday on the Plaza for fans of the NBC morning show, which is known for its all-out group costumes.  And on Friday, Oct. 31, the group did a Today Road Trip around the United States.

Co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Jenna Bush Hager, Carson Daly, Sheinelle Jones, Dylan Dreyer and Willie Geist all showed off their impressive looks in the show’s second hour as fans crowded the Plaza, cheering them on.

First up, representing the Garden State of New Jersey, was meteorologist Dreyer as Frankie Valli of the Four Seasons.

"I love Frankie Valli, and I love the Four Seasons. I have my mom's original ticket from the 1960s Four Seasons concert that she went to in New Jersey!" Dreyer tells PEOPLE. "I was born to play this role!"

Then Daly came jogging in to represent Philadelphia as Rocky Balboa, made iconic by Sylvester Stallone. Roker dressed as Mr. T's Clubber Lane.

"Our crew is so good. It's like a conveyer belt," Roker tells PEOPLE of how fast the team gets into costume. "All of a sudden they're slapping hair on you. It's great."

"It is the SNL group," Daly adds. "They're used to doing this during a commercial break."

Laura Jarrett took on the task of representing the state of California by playing Lisa Turtle from Saved by the Bell. She even had a fun call with Mario Lopez, a.k.a. the real A.C. Slater.

"I watched Saved by the Bell every single day after school,' Jarrett says. "This is a DREAM Halloween costume."

For the pride of Las Vegas, Geist took on Wayne Newton, belting out some classics.

"Wayne Newton is perfect in every way, including the teeth. My teeth just wouldn't cut it for this costume, so I had to get full-on, SNL-made, Wayne Newton teeth," Geist explains of the fake apparatus he wore for his costume.

Melvin turned the Plaza purple as Prince singing "Purple Rain," to represent Minnesota.

"This one was close to my heart because best concert I've ever been to in my life was Prince in 2004," he tells PEOPLE. And to get into character? "I have been listening to Prince non-stop for the better part of a week."

It was Jones who really brought the house down as the pride of Texas: Beyoncé. Clad in full Cowboy Carter garb and riding a horse, the Today 3rd Hour staple got on stage and showed off her "Texas Hold 'Em" moves.

"Today is a dream come true. How many women get to be Beyoncé, in the middle of New York City, with a horse?" says Jones, who is famous in part for her annual Halloween dance moves. "It's just one of those things, back in the day, I was a cheerleader and I took lessons as a kid, so be able to put those lessons to good use, my mom is so happy!"

To represent Florida, Peter Alexander leaned in as Jimmy Buffett, bald head and all!

Just days prior to Halloween, Alexander was on assignment on Tokyo, Japan. "I think I get the credit for coming the furthest of anybody," he says. "I'm here, and I don't know what time zone I'm in, but it's 5 o'clock somewhere!"

And closing out the show were New York City's most fashionable editors — Anna Wintour and Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly — played by Bush Hager and Guthrie, respectively. After doing their own skits, the two powerhouse women got together to dance to Madonna's "Vogue."

"This is a tribute to women we adore," says Bush Hager. "I mean, two powerhouses."

"Two legends," Guthrie agrees.

Each recent year of the morning show’s group costumes have featured a specific theme. In 2024, the co-hosts dressed up like characters from hit films from the ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s.
