The return of the pageant comes after shakeups at the Miss USA organization led to new CEO Thom Brodeur taking over leadership. Brodeur announced the news of his appointment to the role on Instagram on Sept. 4, sharing that he would be acquiring the rights to the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA brands. At the time, former president and CEO Laylah Rose refuted Brodeur's claim in a message posted to the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA Instagram accounts on Sept. 8. However, almost a week later, on Sept. 15, the Miss Universe organization — which owns both Miss USA and Miss Teen USA — officially named Brodeur as Rose's replacement in a press release. The pageants have endured a few other shakeups in recent years, most notably after the 2023 winners, Miss USA Noelia Voigt and Miss Teen USA UmaSofia Srivastav, relinquished their titles, marking the first time that any queen had given up her crown in the pageant's 72-year history. However, as a result of Brodeur's leadership, he tells PEOPLE that he is confident that the reforms he aims to put in place will turn the pageants' trajectories around. Brodeur tells PEOPLE that he's taking the new position opportunity to "reposition" the brand. "I'm just really excited about the opportunity my team and I have to help bring back the iconography that Miss USA and Miss Teen USA were once known for," the experienced pageant coach, judge and former state director shares.Read below to find out more information about how to tune in to the pageant's 74th iteration.
