Abstract
A linkage mechanism for a folding article includes a first strut (56,80) and a second strut (56, 82) which are joined by a pivot (51,81), the linkage mechanism moving between a first position where the first strut (54,80) is either aligned or at a first angle to the second strut (56,82) and a second position where the first strut (54,80) is at a second larger angle to the second strut (56,82). Also provided is stop member (62,83) attached to the first strut (54,80) close to the pivot such that the second strut (56,82) abuts against it when the second position is reached and the second larger angle cannot be exceeded. The second angle is ideally approximately perpendicular. The first and second struts each extend in both directions beyond the pivot (51,81). Third and fourth struts may also be provided, pivotally joined to the first strut (54,80) and second strut (56,82) in a closed loop configuration, the third strut being substantially aligned with the first strut (54,80) to form a first leg, the second strut (56,82) forming a second leg, and the fourth strut forming a seat (58).
