Abstract
Disposable lifting harness for patients is known, which harness has a back and a sitting area formed by a cloth, which is reinforced by bands (3), which are fastened at least along the edges of the cloth and have eyes at their ends in which the lifting action is taking place by a lifting beam. The cloth consists of a back part (1), which covers the two sides and the back of the patient whereby two separate lappets (2) are extended from the back part (1). These lappets are folded under the thigh bones of the patient from outside and inwards up between the thigh bones, the lappets having extensions of the bands with eyes in their ends. In order to make the harness a disposable product the cloth is made of simple destroyable material and the bands along the edges of the cloth are in the form of strong strops having eyes (6) at their ends. A further strop (4) is fastened at the inside of each of the lappets and is extended obliquely upwards along the outside of the back part and forms a lifting eye (5) at its end with the band going along the side edge of the back part.
Description
DISPOSABLE LIFTING HARNESS
This invention relates to a lifting harness for patients, which harness has a back and a sitting area formed by a cloth, which is reinforced by bands, being fastened at least along the edges of the cloth. Eyes are arranged at the ends of the bands by which eyes the lifting is carried out by that the eyes are fastened to a lifting beam. The cloth consists of a back part, which covers the back and the two sides of the pa- tient and two lappets are extended downwards and folded under the thigh bones of the patient from the outside and inwards between the thigh bones. The two lappets are extended by bands also being formed by eyes at their ends.
The object of the invention is to make a disposable lifting harness, which gives the patients the impression of security in spite of that the material of the cloth is very simple making the harness cheap. By that the harness is cheap it is just used once and thereafter disposed. There is a need for dispos- able harnesses when there is a risk for bacterium to be given from the patient to the harness and when it is difficult to clean the harness after it has been used.
In order to achieve this object the harness has the characte- rizing features which are stated in the enclosed claims.
An embodiment of the disposable harness according to the invention will be described in the following by reference to enclosed drawings.
Figure 1 is thereby a harness in unfolded position,
Figure 2 is a perspective view from the back of a harness when being used.
The harness according to fig. 1 includes a cloth having a back part 1 and two from the back part downwards extended lappets
2. These lappets are stuffed because they are passed under the thigh bones of the patients. Bands 3 are fastened along the edges of the cloth and these bands are of a very strong material in the form of strops, which per se are strong enough for carrying out the lifting action and safely keep the patient in the correct position. As can be seen from fig. 1 two back bands 4 are extended from each lappet and goes obliguely upwards along the back side of the back part 1. These back bands 4 form (together with the bands 3 which are extended along the sides of the back part 1), eyes 5, one in each one of the corners of the upper side of the back part. The patient is lifted by these eyes 5 together with eyes 6, which are formed by bands 7 along the outer edge of the lappet and thus are extensions of the band 3. Also the band 8, which is extended along the inner edge of the lappet and is an extension of the back band 4, takes part in the lifting action.
The upper area 10 of the back part can be stuffed so that a good comfort is achieved against the back and the shoulders of the patient.
Preferably the whole cloth is reinforced along its edges by a band 13. The band 3, the lappet bands 7 and 8 and also the back band 4 are formed as continuous strops in order to mini- mize bursting.
When the harness is used the eyes 5 are thus hooked on the lifting beam and also the eyes 6 are hooked on the same lif-
ting beam and takes part in the lifting action by that the lappets 2 are folded under the thigh bones of the patient and are extended between the thigh bones of the patient. It should be noted that in fig. 1 the lappets bands 7 and 8 are shown shortened.
Figure 2 is a perspective view from the back of the harness according to the invention and when being used. The lappet bands 7 and 8 are hereby shown by dash lines since they are extensions of the lappets 2 and are crossed on the way up to the lifting beam.
A preferred embodiment has been described above without any closer statement concerning the material of the harness. How- ever, the material should be of cheap and simple nature while all the bands are of strong material having such a strength that the patient is safely lifted even if the cloth splits.
