Abstract

The required area for the extension to open the calf support (3) is provided by employing the empty space below the front seat without making any modifications in the distance between the seats nor in the number of the seats. The vehicle seat is placed on the seat frame (4). The front surface (21) and the top surface (23) of the said seat frame (4) are closed and its rear surface (22) is open. By making the front surface (21) shorter than the rear surface (22) the upper surface (23) of the sat frame is given an inclined form. Furthermore, the height of the lower surface of the back rest (1) from the floor has to be greater than that of the upper rear surface of the seat frame (4). A recess is provided on the side surface of the seat frame (4) for the mounting of the lower seat element (2) and the piston (8). The seat frame (4) can be constructed as a single or double partitioned seat frame.

Description

VEHICLE SEAT
The present invention is related to movable vehicle seats equipped with calf support for vehicles. Passenger seats in the state of the art consist of two parts namely a seat element and a back rest. There exist vehicle seats consisting of three parts but the empty space underneath the seat extending forwards beyond the seat frame is not used for stretching out legs. In the US Patent No. 463 5999, a vehicle seat with multiple parts is disclosed. However, the movability of the said seat is quite limited. In another US patent, the number of passenger seats has been decreased in order to facilitate their movability.
The object of the present invention is to provide a movable vehicle seat with a calf support that can be activated by the user.
The vehicle seat realised to achieve the above mentioned object of the present invention is illustrated in the attached drawings, wherein;
Figure 1 is the profile view of the vehicle seat with its calf support is at open and closed position.
Figure 2a is the side view of the support plate.
Figure 2b is the plan view of the support plate. Figure 3 a is the perspective view of the mobile calf support in closed position.
Figure 3b is the perspective view of the mobile calf support in open position.
Figure 4 is the view of the spring piston.
Figure 5 is the view of the mobile calf support.

Figure 9a is the profile view of the seat frame with two partitions.
Figure 9b is the rear view of the seat frame with two partitions. Figure 9c is the perspective view of the seat frame with two partitions.
The components shown in the drawings are individually numerated and these reference numbers are as follows:
(1) Back rest
(2) Lower seat element
(3) Calf support
(4) Seat frame
(5) Mobile calf support
(6) Base (support) plate
(7) Hinged joint

The vehicle seat consists of a back rest 1, a lower seat element 2, a calf support, a seat frame 4 and a support plate 6. The back rest 1 and the lower seat element 2 are assembled together by the known methods and the mobility of the back rest is provided also by the known techniques.
The calf support 3, mounted on the vehicle seat is coupled to the lower seat element 2 by means of a connection joint 7. The movement of the calf support 3 is provided by a piston 8 mounted between the piston connection joints 9 one of which is on the calf support 3 and the other, on the seat frame. The user presses the pin on the piston connection joint 9 of the seat frame 4 and at the same time, the piston 8 pushes the calf support upwards in order to bring the calf support 3 to an open position and to secure it at the desired position; the pin is released when the calf support 3 is brought to this position. To bring the calf support 3 to a closed position, the pin is pressed again and a slight force is applied on the calf support 3 by the feet and the calves. When the calf support 3 comes to the closed position, the pin is released.
The purpose for using the support plate 6 is the fact that under normal conditions, the length of the calf support 3 is more than the distance between the lower seat element 2 and the floor of the vehicle. For the mounting of the calf support 3, the said distance is elongated to the required distance. In this case, a base plate 6 is added to the configuration so that the seat users can step on it. The base plate 6 is connected to the calf support 3 by means of a hinged joint7 and moves above the floor in accordance with the movement of the calf support 3. The base plate 6 is provided at its end, with feet equipped with the wheels 10 which facilitate its movement on the floor (figures 2a and 2b).
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a mobile calf support 5 without a base plate 6 is employed. The mobile calf support 5 consists of two telescopic guides and a spring piston 11 (figure 5). The internal guide 13 that is activated by the roller is in the external guide 12. At the end of the inner guide that contacts with the floor, the wheel 10 moving inside the rail 19 laid on the floor is attached. The movement of the inner and outer guides (12,13) is provided by means of the spring piston 11. Two inner 1 3 and outer guides 12 are connected to each other in opposite directions by means of the connecting elements 24. The inner disk 18 and the outer disk 17 are centrically connected by means of hinged joint. The inner disk 18 has claws and it is clutched to the sides of the lower seat element 2 and secured when pressed by the puller 16. The d rive bar 15 of the outer disk 17, is connected to the connection bar 14 on the outer guide 12. By pressing the pin on the piston 8 one end of which is connected to the outer disk 17 and the other end to the inner disk 18, the movements of the outer disk 17 and of the mobile calf support 5 connected to this disk are provided (Figure 3a and Figure 3b).
The area required for the extension to open the calf support 3 is provided by employing the empty space underneath the front seat, without making any modifications in the distance between the seats nor in the number of seats. The vehicle seat is placed on a seat frame 4. The front surface 21 and the top surface 23 of the said seat frame 4 are closed and its rear surface 22 is open. By making the front surface 21 shorter than the rear surface 22 the upper surface 23 of the seat frame is given an inclined form. This inclination can also be provided by making the lower seat element 2 as inclined backwards and upwards. In another preferred embodiment of the seat frame 4, the front 21 and the rear surface 22 lengths are kept equal in order to provide a straight, levelled top surface. Furthermore, the height of the lower surface of the back rest 1 from the floor has to be greater than that of the upper rear surface of the seat frame 4. In order to achieve this, the lower rear part of the back rest 1 is cut out so that it does not cover the rear face 22 of the seat frame 4. A recess is provided on the side surface of the seat frame 4 for the mounting of the lower seat element 2 and the piston 8 (figures 8a, 8band 8c). The seat frame can have 4 single or double partitions. There is one intermediary division 20 on the seat frame 4 with double partitions (Figures 9a, 9b and 9c).
