CHILDS SEAT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 19, 1909.
Application filed March 30, 1908. Serial No. 424,129.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LUELLA Soon, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sandwich, in the county of Dekalb and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Childrens Seats, of which the following is a specification.
Hy invention relates to an improvement in childrens seats, and-the object is to so construct the seat that it can be secured to the back of the seat of a wagon or the back of a chair or like object, and which can be folded up in a very small compass when not in use.
The invention consists of certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view, and Fig. 2 is a view showing the invention collapsed or folded.
A, represents the support, which is preferably made of metal and bent downwardly at its upper end as at 1 whereby it is hooked over the object for supporting the seat. Hinged to the lower end of the support A is a seat C, and pivotally connected to the parallel rods 2, 2 of the support are the side pieces 3, 3 of the seat. The side pieces 3, 3 are provided with openings 4, 4 through which a strap 5 is adapted to pass for holding the child in the seat.
Secured to the side pieces 3 are the cleats 6, and secured to the seat O are the stops 7 The cleats 6 are provided with flanges adapted to overlie the top of the seat when the seat is lowered and to form a support or brace for the sides. The stops 7 on the seatlimit the movement of the sides.
When the seat is not in use the side pieces 3, 3 are swung around back of the rods 2, 2 and beneath the bent down portion 1. The seat portion C is folded up in front of the rods whereby the entire seat forms a very small compass.
It will be seen that I have provided a very simple article which can be attached to any carriage seat or chair. Again the seat can be folded in a very small compass for shipment, and can be made at a very small cost.
It is evident that more or less slight changes might be made in the form and arrangement of the several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not wish to limit myself to the exact construction herein set forth, but
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A folding seat comprising a rod bent to form a supporting hook and two vertically parallel supports, a bar rigidly connecting the lower ends of the supports, a seat hinged to the bar, sides hinged to the-parallel supports, cleats on the sides adapted torest upon the seat forming a brace for the sides, and stops secured to the seat for limiting the movement of the sides.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LUELLA SCOTT.
