LEON SOHREIBER, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
COMBINED DRYING- CI-IAIR AND STAND.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEON SCIIREIBER, citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful 1m rovements in a Combined Drying Chair an(l Stand, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a combined drying stand and chair particularly adapted and intended for use in bath rooms andv the like, the object being to form a device which can be placed on the floor of a bath room, and upon which a person can stand or sit after leaving the bath, the device comprising a chair having a perforated seat, and a stand having a perforated top or plate, whereby water dripping from the person will be conducted to a discharge outlet without wetting the floor or floor covering in the room.
The construction in detail of the device will be more fully apparent from the following description and the accompanying drawings in which liigure 1 is a top plan view of the device; l ig. 2 is a side elevation; Fig. 3 is a section on the line 8-3 of Fig. 1.
The chair comprises a seat 6 made of metal or other suitable material with a considerable number of erforations 7 therein, and a railing 8 eXtenc ing around the back and sides of the seat. Under the seat is a funnel-shaped casing or plate 9 with a threaded standard 10 projecting downwardly therefrom. This standard screws into a socket 11 supported by legs 12. The standard is hollow and so is the socket so that water passing through the holes in the seat will flow down through the standard. A stand attachment or device comprises a circular or cylindrical side wall 13 with a bottom 14 and an upper inwardly projecting flange 15. The casing so formed has Within the same an inclined plate or partition 16 leading to an outlet 17 from which a pipe may be extended to waste. Several cross bars 18 extend over the top of the easing, being attached to the walls 1 at their respective ends, ,and a top plate 19 with holes 20 therein rests upon the bars 18 and the flange 15. The stand so constructed is suported by legs 21. The stand is attached or astened to the chairby means of loops 22 pro- Specification of Letters Patent.

jecting from the side wall 13 of the stand and set over upstanding fingers 23 on the legs 12. A detachable hose or tube 24 fits over a nipple 25 formed at the lower end of the socket 11, and this tube leads into the interior of the stand through an opening in the wall 13, so that water will drain from the seat into the stand.
The seat and stand may be used jointly, or they may be detached and either one used alone, the detachment being effected by disconnecting the tube 24 and lifting the loops 22 off the ins 23. The device may be conveniently ocated beside a bath tub, and a person leaving the tub can seat himself in the chair and (hi ping water will be con ducted to the out et provided. The device will be found particularly serviceable in bathing children, as they can be seated on the chair while they are being dried. Obj ectionable wetting of the floor or carpet in the bath room is thus prevented. The seat has a towel rack 30 at one side, and a rece nacle 33] at the other side for toilet articles.
I claim:
1. A bath chair having a perforated seat,
a funnel-shaped bottom thereunder, a tubular standard supporting the seat and forming a discharge pipe from the bottom, and a support for said standard.
A bath chair having a perforated seat, a rotatable tubular standard having at the top a funnel shaped plate located under the seat and su porting the same, a supporting socket and egs for the standard, the socket being tubular and having a discharge pipe connected to the lower end thereof.
3. The combination with a chair having a perforated seat and a discharge conduit lead ing therefrom, of a stand attached to the chair and havin a perforated top and a discharge conduit eading therefrom.
4. A bath stand comprising a casing having an inclined plate t ierein leading to an outlet, bars extending across the casing above said plate, and a perforated top on said bars.
In testimony whereof, I ailix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
