CRIB
Filed Jan. 16, 1951 INVENTOR. Carles CiLoff) JignZf. BY
A rroleNEY Patented July 2l, 1953 UNITED STATES PATENT gOFFICE CRIB Charles C. Loftin, Cincinnati, Ohio n Application January 16, 195.1, Serial No. 206,204
This invention relates to an improved crib and in particular to a combination of bath, dusting stretcher and crib.
In many homes due to limited space facilities the problem of bathing the baby requires moving the child from one location to another to perform all of the necessary operations. With my improved crib which is of such dimensions to permit movement of the crib through ordinary doorways,
the crib can be rolled to a position adjacent to and the tub removed to permit placing the childy on the mattress of the crib.
The object of my invention is to provide a combination crib, bath and dressing stretcher to provide means in` one single unit to take care of all the necessary functions connected with the care of a baby.
1 claim. (c1. 54)
usual mattress I8 rests on the panel I 4. A rubber tub I9 has suitable hooks k2|) attached thereto arranged to engage the upper rails I3 of the crib and supporting thevtub within -the crib. A suitable flexible connection 2| `is provided to permit draining of the tub. A stretcher is secured to rods 23 arranged to engage slots 24 in the end members of the crib. Thus when both of the rods 23 are in position in the slots 24 the stretcher extends across the upper portion of the crib. e While the child is being bathed the stretcher is in the position shown in Fig. 2. vUpon completion of the bathing operation the rod 23 is engaged with the slots'124 for the placing of the stretcher acrossy l the top of the crib. When it is desired to placeA the baby on the mattress the stretcher and the drained tub are removed from the crib whereby the crib can lbe used as a bed for the child.
Having thus'fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure iby Letters Patent, is:
In acrib having end panels and slatted side members, said end panels having limited downwardly extending slots on the inner face thereof and adjacent to the side members, a removable stretcher having rods receivable in said slots Vwhereby the stretcher can ybe stretched over the A further object is to provide the crib with a l compartment for the storage of articles used in connection Withthe care of the baby.
My invention will be further readily understood from the following description and claim, and
from the drawing in which:v
Fig. l is a perspective view of my improved crib.
Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section of the same,
with the stretcher dropped over the side of the crib. f e
Fig. 3 is a detailed section, taken in the plane of the line 3-3 of Fig. 2. n y
My improved crib comprises end members II having slatted sides I2 with upper rails I3 there-y on. Special panels I4 and I5 form a bottom for the crib with a space I6 therebetween to form a compartment which is closable by doors I1. The
top of said crib or one of said rods 'removed from its slot with the stretcher supported in nonoperative position adjacent to the side of said crib, a tub rremovably supported on said side members within said crib below said stretcher, a compartment in the bottom of said crib, and doors for closing said compartment.
