Hollywood type bed frame which is adjustable so that its length and widthimay be adjusted to accommodate various size-bed springs.

Another object of the invention is the provision of the Hollywood type bed frame which is constructed in sections with means for securing the sections together.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a bed frame of the type indicated which may be collapsed into a comparatively small space for storage or transportation.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a Hollywood type bed frame which is formed in sections, each section having means thereon for attaching a headboard thereto.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a Hollywood type bed frame which is formed in sections, each section having simplifled legs thereon with means for attachin casters thereto.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a Hollywood type bed frame which is constructed and arranged in sections which when assembled will support thereon any conventional bed spring without the necessity of the use of slats.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a bed frame which is constructed and arranged to provide a wide variety of adjustability, thereby obviating the necessity for a dealer to stock a wide range of different sizes.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become more apparent as the description proceeds, reference being made from time to time to the accompanying drawing forming part of the within disclosure, in which drawing:

It will be noted that the free end of each side rail is curved as at M to accommodate the curved end of a conventional bed spring assembly. The free end of each extension member I0, however, is inturned at a right angle as at [5 so that a headboard may be attached thereto as hereinafter disclosed. Secured to the free end of each side rail 9 is a plate [6 which overlies the horizontal web of the side rail and is secured thereto by means of rivets I! or other suitable means. Each plate l6 has an arcuate slot I8 therein which is adapted to accommodate a bolt l9, carrying a wing nut on the bottom, which bolt [9 also extends through a suitable bore formed in the arm 20, which is pivoted asat 2! for horizontal movement.

The extension members H) are also provided with similar plates 22, each having an arcuate slot 23 therein and being secured to the horizontal web of the extension member I 0 by rivets 24.

An arm 25 is pivotally secured to each extension member ID as previously described. The pivoted arm 25 when arranged as shown (Fig. 3) forms the end members of the bed frame.

The arms 20 and 25 are preferably made of angle iron, the vertical webs of which are slotted as at 26 to accommodate bolts 21 (Fig. 3), whereby the end members may be moved into various positions of adjustment.

At the curve of each side rail 9 and at the corner of each extension member ID, I secure a leg 28. Each leg 28 consists of a substantially U-shaped channel member 29 (Figs. 5 and 6), having a top plate 30 which may be formed as an integral part of the channel member or may be an independent plate welded to the top there- The member 30 serves as a means for attaching the channel 29 to the horizontal web of the structure 34 which is secured to the inner face of the leg 28 by welding as at'35. The bottom right end of the strap is welded to the intermediate portion as at 36. The box-like member 36 has a vertical bore 31 at top and bottom therethrough which is adapted to accommodate the caster shaft housing 38 which is press fitted therein.

The shank 39 of the caster 40 extends into the housing 38 and is adapted to rotate freely therein.

From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a novel type of bed frame which may be adjusted for length and width by the simple expedient herein above described.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a device of the character described, the combination of a pair of side-rails of angular cross section, each side rail having an extension member slidable thereon, a, plate at the end of each side rail and each extension member, an

arm pivotally secured to each plate and movable in a plane common with said rails, each said plate having arcuate slot therein adapted'to accommodate a bolt carried by one of said arms.

2. In a device of the character described, the combination of a pair of side rails of angular cross section, each side rail having an extension member slidable thereon, a plate at the end of each side rail and each extension member, an arm pivotally secured to each plate and movable in a plane common with said rails, said plates being provided with arcuate slots adapted to accommodate locking means carried on said arms and said arms are provided with cooperating means for securing said arms to one another in pairs.
