1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to a bracket for supporting window accessories, such as curtains, drapes, or Venetian blinds, and more particularly to a bracket capable of accommodating several of such accessories at the same time.
The primary object of this invention is to provide a bracket which is adapted to support at the same time a variety of window accessories adjacent a window, and which is composed of a minimum of parts and may be cheaply manufactured.
Another object of the invention is to provide a multi-purpose bracket which is capable of supporting a drapery in a plurality of adjustable positions.
A further object of the invention is to provide a multi-purpose bracket which is simply installed, and which is mountable on any conventional window frame in a plurality of positions thereon.
Other and further objects and advantages will become apparent from the following detailed description of the drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the device of this invention mounted on a conventional window frame and supporting a variety of window accessories;
Figure 2 is a view in cross-section of the device taken on the line 22 of Figure 1, the dotted lines indicating the position of the facia holder board means mounting the facia board thereon and the full lines indicating the position of the facia holder board means with the facia board mounted thereon;
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the device taken along the line 33 of Figure 2, showing the drapery rod-supportin means in various positions of adjustment, the full lines indicating one position of adjustment and the dotted lines indicating another position of adjustment;
Figure 4 is an exploded elevational View in perspective of the device, showing the relative arrangement of the parts;
Figure 5 is a top plan view in cross-section taken along the line 5-5 of Figure 4;
Figure 6 is a side elevational view in crosssection taken along the line 6-6 of Figure 4.
In the drawings, wherein like reference numerals refer to identical parts, the device of this invention comprises a flat bracket body 8, Figures 4 to 6, inclusive, having a drapery rod-supporting mean 9 and a facia board holder means I0 carried adjacent one end of the body 8, there being a head rail-supporting means ll secured z to the body 8 intermediate the ends of the latter.
The body 8 is provided with a wing portion I2 adjacent one end thereof and flange portion l3 adjacent the opposite end. The wing portion I2 is provided with a bearing l3. The flange portion i3 is suitably apertured at IQ for securement to a conventional window frame l5, as shown in Figure 1.
The bearing l3 of the wing portion I2 pivotally carries the drapery rod-supporting means 9. The drapery rod-supporting means 9 comprise a hinge plate It having bearings l1 and I1 disposed in alignment with the bearing l3 and operatively secured to the latter by a pin i8 which passes the aligned bearings I1, I3 and IT. The means 9 further includes a cover plate l3 which is adjustably secured by screws 20 in superposed relation with respect to the hinge plate l6 and spaced therefrom to supportingly clamp a portion of a drapery rod 2| therebetween. The means 9 is thus mounted for a limited pivotal movement about a vertical axis, as clearly shown by the dotted lines in Figure 3.
Adjacent the wing portion l2 and carried by the body 8 is the facia board holder means In, the latter means comprisin a holder 22 disposed in superposed relation with respect to said body 8. The holder 22 is of L-shaped cross-section and is provided with a back plate 23 which is pivotally attached at 24' to the body 8 to permit a limited swinging movement of the holder element 22 about a horizontal axis, as shown in dotted lines in Figure 2. The holder element 22 is further provided with a J-shaped lug 24 for the accommodation of an end of a curtain rod 25. To lock the holder element 22 in position on the body 8, the back plate 23 is provided with a locking bump 26 which is engageable with a recess 21 in the body 8.
The head rail-supporting means ll comprises a U-shaped head rail clip 28. The bight 29 of the U is secured to the body 8, as by riveting. The upper leg 3|] of the clip is apertured to permit securement of the bracket body 8 to the horizontal part of the window frame l5, as shown in Figure 2. The lower leg 3| is also apertured to accommodate an end of a head rail 32 of a Venetian blind 33.
Thus, a multi-purpose bracket is provided which can accommodate at the same time a variety of accessories for a window frame, as shown in Figure 1. For example, a drapery 34 may be supported on the drapery rod 2| which is clamped in position on the drapery-supporting means 9.
Also. a facia board 35 may be supported by the holder means In. A curtain 36 may be mounted on the curtain rod 25 carried by the J-shaped lug 24. Furthermore, the head rail clip 28 may support an end of a Venetian blind head rail 32.
We claim:
In a multi-purpose bracket for attachment to a window frame, a vertically-disposed fiat bracket body with means at one end thereof for securing it to a window frame, a hinge plate carried by the opposite end of said body and mounted thereon for pivotal movement about a vertical portion of a drapery rod therebetween, and a.
4 head rail clip secured to said body intermediate said ends for supporting an end of the head rail carrying a Venetian blind.
