Abstract

An apparatus includes bathroom accessories and a grab-bar assembly configured to be coordinated, in combination, in such a way that the bathroom accessories and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

This document relates to the technical field of (and is not limited to) an apparatus including any one of (A) a grab-bar assembly, (B) a selected bathroom-accessory extension that is selectable from a set of bathroom-accessory extensions, or (C) a grab-bar assembly and a selected bathroom-accessory extension that is selectable from a set of bathroom-accessory extensions.

BACKGROUND

Grab-bar assemblies (also called, grab bars) are safety devices that are mountable to a wall, and are configured to enable a handicapped person to maintain their balance, lessen fatigue while standing, hold some of their weight while they maneuver, and/or have something to grab onto in case of a slip or fall. A caregiver may use a grab-bar assembly to assist with transferring a patient from one place to another. A person may use a grab-bar assembly to hold onto as the user climbs a staircase or in case of a fall.
Grab bars are most commonly used in a bathroom environment for the above-mentioned reasons. Bathrooms can be dangerous environments due to the potential for exposing wet surfaces to the user, and the numerous maneuvers typically required (to be performed by the user) in the bathroom. Bathrooms typically have a flush toilet, and a sink, possibly a bathtub or shower along with common bathroom accessories such as a towel holder, soap dish, a dispenser for toilet paper, or a robe hook that are typically mounted to the wall surfaces in a convenient location.

SUMMARY

It will be appreciated that there exists a need to mitigate (at least in part) at least one problem associated with existing grab-bar assemblies and with existing bathroom accessories (also called the existing technology). After much study of the known systems and methods with experimentation, an understanding of the problem and its solution has been identified and is articulated as follows:
A handicapped person, from time to time, may desire to reach a bathroom accessory, and as well may need further assistance that is provided by a grab-bar assembly.
The handicapped person may want to combine and deploy bathroom accessories with grab-bar assemblies.
Preferably, it is desired to provide, for some embodiments, a combination of bathroom accessories and grab-bar assemblies that are coordinated in such a way that the combinations provide a common decorative appearance. In this manner, the handicapped person may be able to enjoy, in their homes, instances of the combination of bathroom accessories and grab-bar assemblies that share a common decorative appearance (as opposed to having uncoordinated decorative appearances).
To mitigate, at least in part, at least one problem associated with existing technology, there is provided (in accordance with a major aspect) an apparatus. The apparatus includes bathroom accessories and a grab-bar assembly configured to be coordinated, in combination, in such a way that the bathroom accessories and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
To mitigate, at least in part, at least one problem associated with existing technology, there is provided (in accordance with a major aspect) an apparatus. The apparatus is for bathroom accessories. The apparatus includes a grab-bar assembly configured to be coordinated, in combination, with the bathroom accessories in such a way that the bathroom accessories and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
To mitigate, at least in part, at least one problem associated with existing technology, there is provided (in accordance with a major aspect) an apparatus. The apparatus is for a grab-bar assembly. The apparatus includes bathroom accessories each configured to be coordinated, in combination, with the grab-bar assembly in such a way that the bathroom accessories and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
To mitigate, at least in part, at least one problem associated with existing technology, there is provided (in accordance with a major aspect) a first apparatus. The first apparatus is for a working surface and is for a selected bathroom-accessory extension. The selected bathroom-accessory extension is selectable from a set of bathroom-accessory extensions in which each bathroom-accessory extension of the set has a unique structural configuration that is different from each other. Each bathroom-accessory extension of the set of bathroom-accessory extensions has a connection-interface zone. The first apparatus includes a grab-bar assembly that is configured to be securely connected to the working surface. The grab-bar assembly presents a user-graspable surface. The grab-bar assembly is configured to securely connect and extend from the connection-interface zone of the selected bathroom-accessory extension that is selectable from the set. The user-graspable surface remains exposed, at least in part, for user-gripping usage once the grab-bar assembly is securely connected to the working surface and is securely connected to the selected bathroom-accessory extension. The grab-bar assembly is configured to be coordinated, in combination with each bathroom-accessory extension that is selected from the set. This is done in such a way that the bathroom accessories and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
To mitigate, at least in part, at least one problem associated with existing technology, there is provided (in accordance with a major aspect) a second apparatus. The second apparatus is for a working surface and is for a grab-bar assembly that presents a user-graspable surface. The second apparatus includes a selected bathroom-accessory extension that is selectable from a set of bathroom-accessory extensions each having a unique structural configuration that is different from each other. Each bathroom-accessory extension of the set has a connection-interface zone. The connection-interface zone of the selected bathroom-accessory extension is configured to securely connect and extend from the grab-bar assembly. The user-graspable surface of the grab-bar assembly remains exposed, at least in part, for user-gripping usage once the grab-bar assembly is securely connected to the working surface and is securely connected to the selected bathroom-accessory extension. The selected bathroom-accessory extension (that is selected from the set) is configured to be coordinated, in combination with the grab-bar assembly. This is done in such a way that the bathroom accessories and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
To mitigate, at least in part, at least one problem associated with existing technology, there is provided (in accordance with a major aspect) a third apparatus. The third apparatus is for a working surface. The third apparatus includes a selected bathroom-accessory extension that is selectable from a set of bathroom-accessory extensions in which each bathroom-accessory extension of the set has a unique structural configuration that is different from each other. Each bathroom-accessory extension of the set has a connection-interface zone. The third apparatus also includes a grab-bar assembly. The grab-bar assembly is configured to be securely connected to the working surface. The grab-bar assembly presents a user-graspable surface. The grab-bar assembly is configured to securely connect and extend from the connection-interface zone of the selected bathroom-accessory extension that is selectable from the set. The user-graspable surface of the grab-bar assembly remains exposed, at least in part, for user-gripping usage once the grab-bar assembly is securely connected to the working surface and is securely connected to the selected bathroom-accessory extension. The grab-bar assembly and the selected bathroom-accessory extension that is selected from the set are configured to be coordinated, in combination, with each other. This is done in such a way that the grab-bar assembly and the selected bathroom accessory extension that is selected from the set, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE NON-LIMITING EMBODIMENT(S)

FIG. 1A, FIG. 1B and FIG. 1C depict front perspective views of embodiments of a first apparatus 100 including a grab-bar assembly 300.
In accordance with a first major embodiment as depicted in FIG. 1A, FIG. 1B and FIG. 1C, the first apparatus 100 is for a working surface 900 (such as, a wall as depicted in FIG. 5A). The first apparatus 100 is also for a selected bathroom-accessory extension 200. The selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 is also called a bathroom accessory). Embodiments of the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 are depicted in any one of FIGS. 2A, 2B, 2C and/or 2D. It is understood that the first apparatus 100 does not include the working surface 900 and does not include the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200. The first apparatus 100 includes (and is not limited to) a grab-bar assembly 300. The grab-bar assembly 300 is configured to be securely connected (directly or indirectly) to the working surface 900 (as depicted in FIG. 5A). The grab-bar assembly 300 is configured to support, at least in part, the weight of a handicapped person who needs temporary support (for instance, while the handicapped person is positioned in the bathroom). It will be appreciated that examples are provided in illustration by name (such as, soap dish, towel holder ring, robe hook, and toilet paper roll holder), and that other examples may provide a tooth brush holder, a shaving supply holder, a foot support for leg shaving, etc., and any equivalent thereof.
It will be appreciated that fabrication details are known to those skilled in the art. The various components of the first apparatus 100 may include or be formed from a rigid (strong) material, such as metal. Preferably, some components of the first apparatus 100 may be formed by a molding process such as injection molding using a moldable material (plastic or metal). More preferably, the materials used in the first apparatus 100 is lightweight, corrosion resistant, and/or warm to the touch (such as a plastic material). The materials (plastic materials) are selected that provides good rigidity and does not suffer ill effects from water exposure. An anti-bacterial component may be added to the parts (components) of the first apparatus 100 in such a way that the parts are configured to reduce (at least in part, bacterial growth that may form on the parts of the first apparatus 100.
The cross section of the grab-bar assembly 300 is of such a dimension that may cause molding challenges such as cooling distortion and sink marks. Therefore, for the case where the cross section is molded, the cross section may need to be molded with an insert, or with a technique that causes a middle section of the grab-bar assembly 300 to be hollow (such as, a gas assisted injection molding technique).
The grab-bar assembly 300 may have any suitable shape. As depicted in FIG. 1A, the grab-bar assembly 300 is circular shaped. It will be appreciated that the grab-bar assembly 300 may also have an elongated linear shape, or another shape providing advantageous grasping, etc. The grab-bar assembly 300 presents (provides or defines) a user-graspable surface 302. The user-graspable surface 302 is configured to be grasped (in use) by a user. The grab-bar assembly 300 is configured to securely connect (directly or indirectly) and extend from (directly or indirectly) any selected bathroom-accessory extension 200. The selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 is selectable from a set 202 of bathroom-accessory extensions (as depicted in any one of FIGS. 2A, 2B, 2C and/or 2D). The bathroom-accessory extensions may also be called bathroom accessories. More specifically, the grab-bar assembly 300 is configured to securely connect (directly or indirectly) and extend (from directly or indirectly) a connection-interface zone 214 of any (provided by any) selected bathroom-accessory extension 200. The selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 is selectable from a set 202 of bathroom-accessory extensions. The user-graspable surface 302 of the grab-bar assembly 300 remains exposed, at least in part, for user-gripping usage once the grab-bar assembly 300 is securely connected to the working surface 900 and is also securely connected to the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200. The grab-bar assembly 300 is configured to be coordinated, in combination with each selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 that is selected from the set 202. This is done in such a way that the bathroom accessories and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
In accordance with the embodiment as depicted in FIG. 1A, the grab-bar assembly 300 includes (and is not limited to) a mount assembly 304. The mount assembly 304 is configured to securely connect to (directly or indirectly) and extend from (directly or indirectly) the connection-interface zone 214 of the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200.
In accordance with the embodiment as depicted in FIG. 1A, the grab-bar assembly 300 includes (and is not limited to) a universal connection portion 306 configured to interface with (comment with) to the connection-interface zone 214 of each bathroom-accessory extension (204, 206, 208, 210), or anyone thereof, or any other type of bathroom-accessory extension as previously mentioned. Preferably, the universal connection portion 306 extends from the mount assembly 304. The universal connection portion 306 may be called a transition assembly. The universal connection portion 306 is configured to securely extend from the grab-bar assembly 300 and to interface with the selected one of the bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210). The universal connection portion 306 is configured for interfaced conformal fit (interface) between the grab-bar assembly 300 and the selected one of the bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210). The universal connection portion 306 is configured to securely extend from the grab-bar assembly 300, and to interface with a selected one of the bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210).
In accordance with the embodiment as depicted in FIG. 1A, the instance of the mount assembly 304 (that is located at the bottom portion of the grab-bar assembly 300) is configured to provide the universal connection portion 306 (also called a locating structure). The universal connection portion 306 is configured to locate and receive (interface with) any one of the grab-bar cover 308 and the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 (as depicted in any one of FIGS. 2A to 2D). This is done in such a way that the universal connection portion 306 supports (withstands) a load placed onto the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200.
In accordance with the embodiment as depicted in FIG. 1B, the grab-bar assembly 300 includes (and is not limited to) a grab-bar cover 308. The grab-bar cover 308 is configured to cover the universal connection portion 306 (as depicted in FIG. 1A) for the case where the universal connection portion 306 is not connected to the connection-interface zone 214 of said each bathroom-accessory extension (204, 206, 208, 210) of the set 202 of bathroom-accessory extensions. Preferably, the grab-bar cover 308 is configured to have a smooth transition leading to the mount assembly 304. The grab-bar cover 308 is configured to securely extend from the mount assembly 304 for the case where none of the bathroom-accessory extensions is extended from the mount assembly 304.
Referring to the embodiment as depicted in FIG. 1C, the grab-bar cover 308 is mounted to the mount assembly 304 in such a way that the universal connection portion 306 is covered (at least in part) for the case where the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 is not interface with (connected to) any one of the mount assembly 304 and the universal connection portion 306.
FIG. 2A, FIG. 2B, FIG. 2C and FIG. 2D depict front perspective views of embodiments of a set 202 of bathroom-accessory extensions for use with the grab-bar assembly 300 of FIG. 1A.
Referring to the embodiments as depicted in FIG. 2A, FIG. 2B, FIG. 2C and/or FIG. 2D, the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 is selectable from the set 202 of bathroom-accessory extensions. Each of the bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210) of the set 202 have a unique structural configuration that is different from each other. Each bathroom-accessory extension (204, 206, 208, 210) of the set 202 of bathroom-accessory extensions have (provide or define) the connection-interface zone 214.
In accordance with an embodiment, the connection-interface zone 214 of each of the bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210) is configured to securely connect to (directly or indirectly) and extend from (directly or indirectly) the mount assembly 304 of the grab-bar assembly 300 (as depicted in FIG. 1A).
In accordance with a more specific embodiment, the connection-interface zone 214 of each of the bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210) is configured to securely connect to (directly or indirectly) and extend from (directly or indirectly) (to generally interface with) the universal connection portion 306 of the user-graspable surface 302 (as depicted in FIG. 1A).
Referring to the embodiment as depicted in FIG. 2A, the first bathroom accessory extension 204 includes a plug assembly 218. The plug assembly 218 is configured to be removable so that the first bathroom accessory extension 204 may be connected (by way of a connector) to the grab-bar assembly 300 (as depicted in FIG. 3A). The plug assembly 218 is configured or shaped somewhat differently (to accommodate for the geometry of the first bathroom accessory extension 204).
FIG. 3A, FIG. 3B, FIG. 3C and FIG. 3D depict frontal perspective views of embodiments of a second apparatus 102 including a selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 that is selectable from the set 202 of bathroom-accessory extensions of FIG. 2A, FIG. 2B, FIG. 2C and FIG. 2D.
It will be appreciated that fabrication details are known to those skilled in the art. The various components of the second apparatus 102 may include or be formed from a rigid (strong) material, such as metal. Preferably, some components of the second apparatus 102 may be formed by a molding process such as injection molding using a moldable material (plastic or metal). More preferably, the materials used in the second apparatus 102 is lightweight, corrosion resistant, and/or warm to the touch (such as a plastic material). The materials (plastic materials) are selected that provides good rigidity and does not suffer ill effects from water exposure. In accordance with a second major embodiment (as depicted in any one of FIG. 3A, FIG. 3B, FIG. 3C, FIG. 3D and FIG. 3E), the second apparatus 102 is for the working surface 900 (such as a wall, as depicted in FIG. 5A). The second apparatus 102 is also for the grab-bar assembly 300 (as depicted in FIG. 1A). It is understood that the second apparatus 102 does not include the working surface 900, and as well does not include the grab-bar assembly 300 (as depicted in FIG. 1A).
The second apparatus 102 includes (and is not limited to) the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200. The selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 is selectable from the set 202 of bathroom-accessory extensions. Each of the bathroom-accessory extensions of the set 202 has a unique structural configuration that is different from each other. Each bathroom-accessory extension (204, 206, 208, 210) of the set 202 has (provides or defines) the connection-interface zone 214. In general terms, the connection-interface zone 214 of the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 is configured to securely connect and extend from (directly or indirectly) the grab-bar assembly 300. The user-graspable surface 302 of the grab-bar assembly 300 remains exposed, at least in part, for user-gripping usage once the grab-bar assembly 300 is securely connected to the working surface 900 and is securely connected to the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200. The selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 (that is selected from the set 202) is configured to be coordinated, in combination with the grab-bar assembly. This is done in such a way that the bathroom accessories and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
In accordance with an option, the connection-interface zone 214 of each of the bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210) is configured to securely connect to and extend from the mount assembly 304 of the grab-bar assembly 300.
In accordance with another option, the connection-interface zone 214 of each of the bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210) is configured to securely connect to and extend from (generally to interface with) the universal connection portion 306 of the user-graspable surface 302 (as depicted in FIG. 1A). The universal connection portion 306 is covered (at least in part) once the connection-interface zone 214 is positioned over the universal connection portion 306 (as depicted in FIGS. 3A to 3D).
Each of the bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210) includes an accessory cover cap 216 configured for interfaced conformal fit with the mount assembly 304. It will be appreciated that the shape and/or the geometry of the accessory cover cap 216 of each of the bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210) are different or are the same (etc.), depending on the connection design that is deployed an/or is required.
The bathroom-accessory extensions (204, 206, 208, 210) are selected from the group consisting of a first bathroom accessory extension 204, a second bathroom accessory extension 206, a third bathroom accessory extension 208, and a fourth bathroom accessory extension 210. The first bathroom accessory extension 204 includes a peg assembly (such as, a towel peg). The second bathroom accessory extension 206 includes a soap dish. The third bathroom accessory extension 208 includes a toilet paper holder. The fourth bathroom accessory extension 210 includes a towel-holding device (a towel ring).
In accordance with a third major embodiment (as depicted in any one of FIGS. 3A to 3D) a third apparatus 104 is for the working surface 900 (as depicted in FIG. 5A). The third apparatus 104 includes (and is not limited to) a synergistic combination of the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 and the grab-bar assembly 300. The third apparatus 104 does not include the working surface 900. The grab-bar assembly 300 and the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 that is selected from the set 202 are configured to be coordinated, in combination, with each other. This is done in such a way that the grab-bar assembly and the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 that is selected from the set 202, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.

In accordance with a first general embodiment, there is provided an apparatus. The apparatus includes the bathroom accessories (204, 206, 208, 210) and the grab-bar assembly 300 configured to be coordinated, in combination, in such a way that the bathroom accessories (204, 206, 208, 210) and the grab-bar assembly 300, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
In accordance with a second general embodiment, there is provided an apparatus. The apparatus is for the bathroom accessories (204, 206, 208, 210). The apparatus includes the grab-bar assembly 300 configured to be coordinated, in combination, with the bathroom accessories (204, 206, 208, 210) in such a way that the bathroom accessories (204, 206, 208, 210) and the grab-bar assembly 300, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
In accordance with a third general embodiment, there is provided an apparatus. The apparatus is for the grab-bar assembly 300. The apparatus includes the bathroom accessories (204, 206, 208, 210) each configured to be coordinated, in combination, with the grab-bar assembly 300 in such a way that the bathroom accessories (204, 206, 208, 210) and the grab-bar assembly 300, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the selected bathroom-accessory extension 200 is configured to be fixedly positioned to or is configured to be fixedly located at a bottom portion of the grab-bar assembly 300. It will be appreciated that other options are possible.
In view of FIGS. 3A to 3D, in general terms, there is provided an apparatus including bathroom accessories and a grab-bar assembly configured to be coordinated, in combination, in such a way that the bathroom accessories and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.
FIG. 4A and FIG. 4B depict a front perspective view and a rear perspective view (respectively) of embodiments of the grab-bar assembly 300 of FIG. 1C.
In accordance with the embodiment depicted in FIG. 4A, the grab-bar assembly 300 includes a front-overmolded portion 310. The front-overmolded portion 310 is overmolded, at least in part, to the user-graspable surface 302, and extends from a frontal section of the grab-bar assembly 300. The front-overmolded portion 310 is configured to be user grippable (by the fingers and/or the palm of the hand of the user). The front-overmolded portion 310 includes a first colour that is different from the colour of the grab-bar assembly 300. The front-overmolded portion 310 includes a relatively soft elastomeric grip material (such as, a rubber material or a silicone material, etc., and any equivalent thereof). It will be appreciate that the top instance of the grab-bar cover 308 may have a different geometry from the bottom instance of the grab-bar cover 308.
In accordance with the embodiment depicted in FIG. 4B, the grab-bar assembly 300 includes a rear-overmolded portion 312. The rear-overmolded portion 312 is overmolded, at least in part, to the user-graspable surface 302, and extends from a rear section of the grab-bar assembly 300. The rear-overmolded portion 312 is configured to be user grippable (by the fingers of the user). Preferably, the rear-overmolded portion 312 includes a second colour that is different from the colour of the grab-bar assembly 300. The rear-overmolded portion 312 includes a relatively soft elastomeric grip material. Preferably, the rear-overmolded portion 312 includes pad portions that are spaced apart from each other, and the pad portions are aligned along the rear perimeter of the grab-bar assembly 300 on the user-graspable surface 302.
In accordance with the embodiment depicted in FIG. 4B, the mount assembly 304 extends from the rear section of the grab-bar assembly 300. The mount assembly 304 may be called a stem member. Preferably, a first instance of the mount assembly 304 extends from a top portion of the rear section of the grab-bar assembly 300, and a second instance of the mount assembly 304 extends from a bottom portion of the rear section of the grab-bar assembly 300.
In accordance with a preferred option, a top surface of the mount assembly 304 is oriented along a downward angle (once the grab-bar assembly 300 is operatively mounted to a vertical wall). This is done in such a way that the top surface (in use) facilitates the drainage of water for the case where the grab-bar assembly 300 is deployed or installed in a shower environment and exposed to water spray.
Preferably, the first instance and the second instance of the mount assembly 304 are positioned opposite from each other on the grab-bar assembly 300. Each instance of the mount assembly 304 is configured to interface with a respective instance of the grab-bar cover 308.
It will be appreciated that the mount assembly 304 positioned at the top section of the grab-bar assembly 300 may have a different shape or configuration than the mount assembly 304 that is positioned at the bottom section of the grab-bar assembly 300. In accordance with an option, the mount assembly 304 positioned at the top section of the grab-bar assembly 300 does not connect with any of the bathroom-accessory extension (204, 206, 208, 210) of the set 202 of bathroom-accessory extensions.
Each instance of the mount assembly 304 includes a mounting device 314 configured to facilitate operative connection of the mount assembly 304 to the working surface 900 (as depicted in FIG. 5A). The mounting device 314 may provide a connector passage (also called a stem bore) configured to receive a connector (not depicted in FIGS. 4A and 4B) in such a way that the connector may connect (in use) the instances of the mount assembly 304 to the working surface 900.
By way of an option, the grab-bar cover 308 may be secured within the connector passage of the mounting device 314 by a bead within a groove securement, etc. By way of an option, the grab-bar cover 308 may be aligned to the mounting device 314 with a boss feature that fits within the mount assembly 304. Preferably, each respective instance of the grab-bar cover 308 is configured to conceal an area where wall mount fasteners are installed in such a way that the fasteners connect the mount assembly 304 to the working surface 900 (as depicted in FIG. 5A).
FIG. 5A and FIG. 5B depict views of embodiments of the grab-bar assembly 300 of FIG. 1C. FIG. 5A depicts a front view of an embodiment of the grab-bar assembly 300. FIG. 5B depicts a cross-sectional view (through a cross-sectional line A-A) of an embodiment of the grab-bar assembly 300 of FIG. 5A. It will be appreciated that the grab-bar cover 308 associated with the embodiments described in connection with FIGS. 5A and 5B are applicable to the accessory cover cap 216 associated with the embodiments depicted in FIGS. 3A, 3B, 3D and 3D (that is, the grab-bar cover 308 and the accessory cover cap 216 share or have the same technical features, preferably on the inside and not so much on the outside).
Referring to the embodiment as depicted in FIG. 5B, the working surface 900 includes a vertically-aligned wall (such as, a wall board and any equivalent thereof) that is mounted to a wall stud 902 (such as, a wooden support member, a steel support member and any equivalent thereof). The wall stud 902 is configured to bear a load that is attached thereto.
FIG. 6A, FIG. 6B, FIG. 6C, FIG. 6D, FIG. 6E and FIG. 6F depict views of embodiments of the grab-bar assembly 300 of FIG. 5A. FIG. 6A, FIG. 6B, FIG. 6C, FIG. 6D, FIG. 6E and FIG. 6F depict partial cross-sectional views (through a cross-sectional line A-A) of an embodiment of the grab-bar assembly 300 of FIG. 5A. It will be appreciated that the grab-bar cover 308 associated with the embodiments described in connection with FIGS. 6A to 6F are applicable to the accessory cover cap 216 associated with the embodiments depicted in FIGS. 3A, 3B, 3D and 3D (that is, the grab-bar cover 308 and the accessory cover cap 216 share or have the same technical features).
Referring to the embodiments as depicted in FIG. 6A and FIG. 6B, an instance of a connector hole 904 is formed (drilled) into the working surface 900 (the wall) and the wall stud 902 (for each instance of the mount assembly 304). Each instance of the connector hole 904 is configured to receive a wall connector 906.
Referring to the embodiments as depicted in FIG. 6A and FIG. 6B, the mount assembly 304 provides (defines) a first channel 316 and a second channel 318 positioned adjacent to, aligned with and parallel to the first channel 316. The mount assembly 304 provides (defines) a first connector passageway 320 that extends axially from the first channel 316. The mount assembly 304 provides (defines) a second connector passageway 322 that extends axially from the second channel 318.
Referring to the embodiments as depicted in FIG. 6A and FIG. 6B, the mount assembly 304 provides a cushion 324. The cushion 324 is configured to contact the working surface 900 once the mount assembly 304 is positioned to do just so. This is done in such a way that the first connector passageway 320 is aligned with the connector hole 904. Preferably, the cushion 324 is configured to compress without permanent setting, and does not promote passage or absorption of water (moisture) such as a closed cell foam.
Referring to the embodiments as depicted in FIG. 6A and FIG. 6B, a washer 326 is receivable by (and placed on) the head of the wall connector 906. An elastomeric material 328 is receivable by the wall connector 906 in such a way that the elastomeric material 328 is placed on (abuts) the washer 326. Preferably, the elastomeric material 328 may form an O-ring. It will be appreciated that the elastomeric material 328 is optional (if so desired).
Referring to the embodiments as depicted in FIG. 6A and FIG. 6B, once the first connector passageway 320 is aligned with the connector hole 904, the wall connector 906 with the washer 326 and the elastomeric material 328 are inserted into the first channel 316 and then into the first connector passageway 320 and then into the connector hole 904. The elastomeric material 328 is positioned between the washer 326 and the mount assembly 304. Preferably, the elastomeric material 328 is received in a receiving area formed by a shoulder and a face groove of the mount assembly 304. The washer 326 is configured to compress, in use and under application of a torque to the wall connector 906, the elastomeric material 328 that is held in position within the first channel 316. The elastomeric material 328 is configured to provide a visual indication that a correct amount of torque (a connector force) was applied to the wall connector 906. For instance, the elastomeric material 328 is configured to extend beyond the outer diameter of the washer 326 in such a way that the outer peripheral edge of the elastomeric material 328 is visually detectable by the user (the installer) while the grab-bar cover 308 is installed to the working surface 900.
Referring to the embodiments as depicted in FIG. 6A and FIG. 6B, the grab-bar cover 308 provides (defines) a first cover channel formation 330 and a second cover channel formation 332 (as depicted in FIG. 6A). The first cover channel formation 330 and the second cover channel formation 332 are spaced apart from each other and are aligned parallel to each other. Preferably, the first cover channel formation 330 and the second cover channel formation 332 are spatially positioned one over the other along a vertical stacked alignment. The first cover channel formation 330 is configured to be received into the first channel 316 (of the mount assembly 304) once the grab-bar cover 308 is operatively mounted to the mount assembly 304 (as depicted in FIG. 6B). The second cover channel formation 332 is configured to be received into the second channel 318 (of the mount assembly 304) once the grab-bar cover 308 is operatively mounted to the mount assembly 304 (as depicted in FIG. 6B).
Referring to the embodiments as depicted in FIG. 6B and FIG. 6C, the grab-bar cover 308 is further configured to be snap fitted to the mount assembly 304 once the grab-bar cover 308 is received, at least in part, by the mount assembly 304.
Referring to the embodiments as depicted in FIG. 6D and FIG. 6E, the grab-bar cover 308 also includes a cover fastener 334. The cover fastener 334 is configured to be received in the second connector passageway 322 once the grab-bar cover 308 is mounted to the mount assembly 304. The cover fastener 334 is also configured to fixedly attach (affix) the grab-bar cover 308 to the mount assembly 304 once the cover fastener 334 is received into the second connector passageway 322.
Referring to the embodiments as depicted in FIG. 6E and FIG. 6F, the grab-bar cover 308 also includes a plug assembly 336. Preferably, the plug assembly 336 includes a single molded piece of rubber. The plug assembly 336 is configured to be receivable in the second cover channel formation 332. The plug assembly 336 is also configured to frictionally fit into (to) the second cover channel formation 332 in such a way that the plug assembly 336, in use, covers the cover fastener 334. In this way, the plug assembly 336 (in use) covers the cover fastener 334 that is received in the second cover channel formation 332 of the grab-bar cover 308. The cover fastener 334 is also received by the mount assembly 304 in such a way that the cover fastener 334, in use, fastens (fixedly connects) the grab-bar cover 308 to the mount assembly 304.

Claims

1. An apparatus, comprising:

a bathroom-accessory extension having a connection-interface zone; and

a grab-bar assembly being configured to be connectable, in combination with the bathroom-accessory extension; and

the grab-bar assembly including a mount assembly; and

the mount assembly being configured to securely connect to and extend from the connection-interface zone of any one of the bathroom-accessory extension; and

the bathroom-accessory extension is selectable from a set of bathroom-accessory extensions, including:

a peg assembly; and

a soap dish; and

a toilet paper holder; and

a towel-holding device; and

whereby each bathroom-accessory extension of the set of bathroom-accessory extensions and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.

2. An apparatus, comprising:

a grab-bar assembly being configured to be securely connected to a working surface;

the grab-bar assembly presenting a user-graspable surface, and the grab-bar assembly for use with a selected bathroom-accessory extension, and the selected bathroom-accessory extension being selected from a set of bathroom-accessory extensions in which each bathroom-accessory extension of the set of bathroom-accessory extensions has a unique structural configuration that is different from each other, and said each bathroom-accessory extension of the set of bathroom-accessory extensions having a connection-interface zone;

the grab-bar assembly including a mount assembly being configured to securely connect to and extend from the connection-interface zone of the selected bathroom-accessory extension that is selectable from the set of bathroom-accessory extensions;

the user-graspable surface of the grab-bar assembly remaining exposed, at least in part, for user-gripping usage once the grab-bar assembly is securely connected to the working surface and is securely connected to the selected bathroom-accessory extension; and

wherein the grab-bar assembly is configured to be connectable, in combination with said each bathroom-accessory extension that is selectable from the set of bathroom-accessory extensions; and

the set of bathroom-accessory extensions includes any two of at least the following of:

a peg assembly; and

a soap dish; and

a toilet paper holder; and

a towel-holding device; and

whereby said each bathroom-accessory extension of the set of bathroom-accessory extensions and the grab-bar assembly, in combination, provide a common decorative appearance.

3. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein:

the mount assembly is configured to securely connect to and extend from the connection-interface zone of the selected bathroom-accessory extension.

4. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein:

the grab-bar assembly includes:

a connection portion configured to connect to and interface with the connection-interface zone of said each bathroom-accessory extension of the set of bathroom-accessory extensions.

5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein:

the grab-bar assembly includes:

a grab-bar cover being configured to cover the connection portion for a case where the connection portion is not connected to and interface with the connection-interface zone of said each bathroom-accessory extension of the set of bathroom-accessory extensions.

6. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein:

the grab-bar assembly is circular shaped.

7. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein:

a connection portion extends from the mount assembly; and

the connection portion is configured to securely extend from the grab-bar assembly and interface with the selected bathroom-accessory extension that is selectable from the set of bathroom-accessory extensions.

8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein:

the connection portion is configured to provide an interface between the grab-bar assembly and the selected bathroom-accessory extension; and

the connection portion is configured to securely extend from the grab-bar assembly, and to interface with the selected bathroom-accessory extension.

9. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein:

the grab-bar assembly includes any one of:

a front portion being overmolded, at least in part, to the user-graspable surface, and the front portion extending from a frontal section of the grab-bar assembly, and the front portion being configured to be user grippable; and

a rear portion being overmolded, at least in part, to the user-graspable surface, and the rear portion extending from a rear section of the grab-bar assembly, and the rear portion being configured to be user grippable.

10. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein:

a first instance of the mount assembly extends from a top portion of a rear section of the grab-bar assembly; and

a second instance of the mount assembly extends from a bottom portion of the rear section of the grab-bar assembly; and

the first instance of the mount assembly and the second instance of the mount assembly are positioned opposite from each other on the grab-bar assembly; and

each instance of the mount assembly includes a mounting device configured to facilitate operative connection of the mount assembly to the working surface.

11. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein:

the mount assembly provides:

a first channel;

a second channel being positioned adjacent to, aligned with and parallel to the first channel;

a first connector passageway extending axially from the first channel; and

a second connector passageway extending axially from the second channel; and

the grab-bar assembly further includes:

a grab-bar cover providing:

a first cover channel formation; and

a second cover channel formation;

wherein the first cover channel formation and the second cover channel formation are spaced apart from each other and are aligned parallel to each other;

the first cover channel formation being configured to be received into the first channel of the mount assembly once the grab-bar cover is operatively mounted to the mount assembly; and

the second cover channel formation being configured to be received into the second channel of the mount assembly once the grab-bar cover is operatively mounted to the mount assembly.

12. The apparatus of claim 11, further comprising:

the grab-bar cover is further configured to be snap fitted to the mount assembly once the grab-bar cover is received, at least in part, by the mount assembly of the grab-bar assembly.

13. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein:

the grab-bar cover also includes:

a cover fastener being configured to be received in the second connector passageway once the grab-bar cover is mounted to the mount assembly, and the cover fastener also being configured to fixedly attach the grab-bar cover to the mount assembly once the cover fastener is received into the second connector passageway; and

a plug assembly being configured to be receivable in the second cover channel formation, and the plug assembly also being configured to frictionally fit into the second cover channel formation in such a way that the plug assembly, in use, covers the cover fastener.

14. An apparatus, comprising:

a bathroom-accessory extension being selectable from a set of bathroom-accessory extensions each having a unique structural configuration that is different from each other, and the bathroom-accessory extension, which was selected from the set of bathroom-accessory extensions, having a connection-interface zone;

the connection-interface zone of the bathroom-accessory extension, which was selected from the set of bathroom-accessory extensions, is configured to securely connect to and extend from a mount assembly of a grab-bar assembly presenting a user-graspable surface;

wherein the user-graspable surface of the grab-bar assembly remains exposed, at least in part, for user-gripping usage once the grab-bar assembly is securely connectable to a working surface and is securely connectable to the bathroom-accessory extension, which was selected from the set of bathroom-accessory extensions; and

wherein the bathroom-accessory extension, which is selectable from the set of bathroom-accessory extensions, is configured to be connectable, in combination with the grab-bar assembly and

a peg assembly; and

a soap dish; and

a toilet paper holder; and

a towel-holding device; and

15. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein:

the connection-interface zone of the bathroom-accessory extension is configured to securely connect to and extend from the mount assembly of the grab-bar assembly.

16. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein:

the connection-interface zone of the bathroom-accessory extension is configured to securely connect to and interface with a connection portion of the user-graspable surface.

17. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein:

the bathroom-accessory extension includes:

an accessory cover cap being configured to provide an interface for interfaced conformal fit with the mount assembly of the grab-bar assembly.

the bathroom-accessory extension, which was selected from the set of bathroom-accessory extensions, is configured to be fixedly positioned to a bottom portion of the grab-bar assembly.

20. An apparatus, comprising:

a selected bathroom-accessory extension being selected from a set of bathroom-accessory extensions in which each bathroom-accessory extension of the set of bathroom-accessory extensions having a unique structural configuration that is different from each other, and said each bathroom-accessory extension of the set of bathroom-accessory extensions having a connection-interface zone; and

a grab-bar assembly being configured to be securely connected to a working surface, the grab-bar assembly presenting a user-graspable surface, and the grab-bar assembly having a mount assembly being configured to securely connect to and extend from the connection-interface zone of the selected bathroom-accessory extension that is selectable from the set of bathroom-accessory extensions, and the user-graspable surface of the grab-bar assembly remaining exposed, at least in part, for user-gripping usage once the grab-bar assembly is securely connected to the working surface and is securely connected to the selected bathroom-accessory extension; and

wherein the grab-bar assembly and the selected bathroom-accessory extension, which is from the set of bathroom-accessory extensions, are configured to be connectable, in combination, with each other; and

a peg assembly; and

a soap dish; and

a toilet paper holder; and

a towel-holding device; and
