Abstract

A chair base including a support body and a plurality of foldable assembly legs is disclosed. The support body has a plurality of supporting legs. The plurality of foldable assembly legs is movably coupled with the foldable assembly legs.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention generally relates to furniture and, more particularly, to a multi-sectional chair base.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • The modern chair base is usually formed in an integral manner in order to have strong and stable support for a chair that is mounted thereon. The chair base includes a plurality of supporting legs extending radially outwards from a center of the chair base. Thus, the supporting legs will have an axial projection area that is larger than and covers the axial projection area of the chair. As a result, the supporting legs with larger axial projection area may lead to inconvenience during disassembly, packing and transportation of the chair base.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is therefore the primary objective of this invention to provide a chair base allowing great convenience during disassembly, packing and transportation thereof.
  • The invention discloses a chair base including a support body and a plurality of foldable assembly legs. The support body has a plurality of supporting legs. The plurality of foldable assembly legs is movably coupled with the foldable assembly legs.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given hereinafter and the accompanying drawings which are given by way of illustration only, and thus are not limitative of the present invention, and wherein:
  • FIG. 1 shows a diagram of a support body of a chair base according to a preferred embodiment of the invention.
  • FIG. 2 shows a diagram of a foldable assembly leg according to the preferred embodiment of the invention.
  • FIG. 3 shows a diagram of the other foldable assembly leg according to the preferred embodiment of the invention.
  • FIG. 4 shows a first assembly step of the chair base according to the preferred embodiment of the invention.
  • FIG. 5 shows a second assembly step of the chair base according to the preferred embodiment of the invention.
  • FIG. 6 shows a diagram of one foldable assembly leg assembled with the support body according to the preferred embodiment of the invention.
  • In the various figures of the drawings, the same numerals designate the same or similar parts. Furthermore, when the term “first”, “second”, “third”, “fourth”, “inner”, “outer” “top”, “bottom” and similar terms are used hereinafter, it should be understood that these terms refer only to the structure shown in the drawings as it would appear to a person viewing the drawings and are utilized only to facilitate describing the invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • As shown in FIGS. 1 to 6, a chair base including a support body 1 and a plurality of foldable assembly legs 2 is disclosed according to a preferred embodiment of the invention. Each foldable assembly leg 2 includes a connection end 21 and two assembling protrusions 22 on two sides thereof. The support body 1 has a plurality of supporting legs 11, each having an assembling groove 111 and two concave portions 112 for receiving one foldable assembly leg 2. The connection end 21 has an outer diameter equal to an inner diameter of the assembling groove 111. The supporting leg 11 and the foldable assembly leg 2 together appear as a streamlined shape after they are assembled together. Each assembling protrusion 22 has a diameter substantially smaller than that of the concave portion 112. The foldable assembly leg 2 may consist of a plurality of parts capable of mutual movement. Note the assembling protrusions 22 in FIG. 2 are in a round shape, whereas the assembling protrusions 22′ in FIG. 3 appear as a round shape with a cutoff edge.
  • An assembly method of the chair base is illustrated in two main steps. In a first assembly step, the support body 1 is turned over to face a bottom side of the support body 1 upwards. Then, one foldable assembly leg 2 is inserted into one supporting leg 11. Thus, the assembling protrusions 22 of the foldable assembly leg 2 may be coupled with the concave portions 112. In a second assembly step, the foldable assembly leg 2 is folded outwards by 90 degrees until the connection end 21 is fully received in the assembling groove 111. Therefore, the support body 1 and the foldable assembly leg 2 will appear as the streamlined shape. So far, one foldable assembly leg 2 is assembled to the support body 1. Other foldable assembly legs 2 may be assembled in the same manner as described in the first and second steps above.
  • Besides, the assembling protrusion 22 of the foldable assembly leg 2 has a round shape. The foldable assembly legs 2 may be coupled with the support body 1 in other manners, such as via a hinge or sliding track.
  • In the invention, the support body 1 is allowed to have a smaller axial projection area when the foldable assembly legs 2 are not assembled with the support body 1. Thus, easy assembly, packing and transportation of the chair base are achieved.
  • Although the invention has been described in detail with reference to its presently preferable embodiment, it will be understood by one of ordinary skill in the art that various modifications can be made without departing from the spirit and the scope of the invention, as set forth in the appended claims.
