Abstract

In the present invention, a removable and interchangeable organizer is attached to the inside of a bag, thereby giving users the flexibility of carrying various types of articles organized and secured. By installing hooks at the ends of the bag, the present invention allows the users to use the bag in two different modes, i.e., horizontally (i.e., laying on the floor or ground) and vertically (hanging by the hooks).

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to bags for traveling and sporting.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Most traveling and sporting bags and suitcases contain certain compartments for organizing purposes. However, such compartments are permanently attached to the bag. However, different users of the bags have articles of different size, different quality. For instance, users may wish to use the compartments to organizing their cloths, or using the compartments to prevent fragile items from being damaged. The permanent attachment of the organizers onto the shell makes it difficult for users to find the bag that fit their purposes and convenience.
  • In addition, bags are traditionally used by horizontally placing it on a surface. The current invention allows the users to hang it on, for instance, hotel closet, for easy access to the items therein.
  • Various prior art patents demonstrate detachable organizers.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 5,794,676 describes a brief case with a detachable briefcase organizer The organizer is used inside a brief case.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 6,230,952 describes a detachable pouch on backpack. The invention does not actually separate the backpack into different chambers.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 6,149,040 describes a detachable organizer for vehicle trunk.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 6,823,909 describes a detachable organizer for a purse.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 4,887,751 describes a complex organizer for carrying bags with shoulder belt. In comparison, the present invention is much simpler and directed to much larger traveling bags.
  • U.S. patent application Ser. No. 11/150987 describes an organizer for traveling bag. The organizer is permanently attached and is not used to separate the main chamber into compartments.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention provides a means to compartmentalize a bag into several chambers. The organizer is detachable and configurable to give users maximum flexibility. In addition, the bag may be used in two modes. First, it may be used in the traditional mode by placing it horizontally on floor or ground. Second, it may be hanged up and used as a compartmentalized shelf. The present invention provides flexibility in the formation of compartments and in the manner to be used, thereby giving the user flexibility and convenience.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is the perspective view of the shell
  • FIG. 2 is the perspective view of the organizer, in relation to the shell
  • FIG. 3 is the perspective view of the bag used in horizontal mode
  • FIG. 4 is the perspective view of the bag used in vertical mode
  • FIG. 5A and FIG. 5B illustrate the attachment of the organizer to the shell by common backpack clips
  • FIG. 6A and FIG. 6B illustrate the attachment of the organizer to the shell by Velcro
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention is a bag (FIG. 1) that comprises a shell 1 and an organizer 2 (FIG. 2) and may be used in two modes, i.e., a horizontal mode (shown in FIG. 3) when the back of the bag 3 (FIG. 3) is laid on a surface and the bag compartments opens upward, and a vertical mode (shown in FIG. 4) when the bag is hanged up with a hanging mechanism 4 (FIG. 4) on the shell so the bag can be hanged up and used like a cabinet.
  • FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 illustrate one of the preferred embodiments when it is used in the horizontal mode. At this mode, user may place objects into the organizers 2 and close the bag by zip up the shell 1. In this embodiment, no front door for organizer compartments is implemented.
  • The vertical mode is illustrates by FIG. 4. In this mode, user hangs up the bag by using the hanging mechanism 4 at the hanging end of the shell 5 on, for example, a clothes rack, as shown in FIG. 4, with bag compartments opening toward the user. In this mode, the bag can be used as a cabinet. It is extremely advantageous for organizing objects of various sizes in various sized compartments. The bag may be zipped up and carried off like a regular bag.
  • The organizer may be attached to the shell in different ways. For instance, in one embodiment, it is attached by common backpack clips on both the organizer 6 and the shell 7 (FIG. 5A and FIG. 5B). Alternatively, it may be attached by Velcro which is installed on the outer back side 8 of the organizer and the inner bottom side 9 of the shell (see FIG. 6A and FIG. 6B).
  • Alternatively, front doors may be installed to enclose some or all organizer compartments. The doors may be fastened by zipper or Velcro.
  • Wheels may be installed on the non-hanging end of the bag for easy transportation.
