Abstract

A tilt seat (70) of a wheelchair (10) is operatively connected to a wheelchair frame through an archial support member (110) and through a gear rack (40) such that as the seat is tilted, the centre of gravity of a person seated in the wheelchair is substantially maintained. A bracket (50), which slides along the gear rack (40), can be stopped at or released at any desired seat tilt inclination. The wheelchair can also contain a reclinable seat back member (72), and marking elements, which show the tilt angle of the seat.
