Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to move a drive wheel in any direction such as longitudinal, lateral and oblique directions without altering the direction of a mobile vehicle of a patient or article by providing a simple mechanism for rolling wheel utilizing a rolling sphare.
CONSTITUTION: A frame 3 for supporting a rolling sphere 2 supported at a chassis 1 is clamped at a steering shaft 5 rotatable around a central axis of the sphere 2 by a handle manually operated or a motor 4 mounted on the chassis 1. A number of balls 7 are annularly arranged on a supporting member 6 on the frame 3 to thus rotatably support the sphere 2 within the frame 3. A frictional drive member 11 is urged to drive the sphere 2 and rotatably around the central axis of the sphere 2 by the steering shaft 5.
