Abstract

To provide a portable toilet that is difficult to use when it is difficult to maintain an upright pelvis posture due to lower back pain or the like.
[Solution] A chair-shaped portable toilet 100 equipped with a toilet seat instead of a seat, comprising a chair frame 10 having an adjustable backrest 18 and a first frame supporting the backrest, a legged toilet seat 30 detachably attached to the chair frame and having a toilet seat 32 and a second frame supporting the toilet seat, and a detachable support plate 42 having approximately the same width as the toilet seat, and by engaging the second frame with the first frame and positioning the legged toilet seat relative to the chair frame, one end of the support plate abuts the rear edge of the toilet seat and the other end engages with the backrest, the support plate can be fixed in a state where it is continuous with the toilet seat and inclined at an angle corresponding to the inclination of the backrest.

Description

This disclosure relates to portable toilets.

In recent years, chair-type portable toilets that can be set up anywhere indoors have become popular for elderly people and those with lower back disabilities who require care. They typically consist of a chair frame with a bucket-style toilet, and the user relieves themselves in a normal seated position (see Patent Document 1). For users who have difficulty urinating in a normal seated position, a wheelchair with a built-in toilet seat has also been proposed, in which the backrest can be reclined and folded up into a bed position (see Patent Document 2).

The portable toilet described in Patent Document 1 is designed, in principle, for a nearly upright sitting position, making it difficult to use for those who have difficulty maintaining an upright pelvis for long periods of time due to lower back pain or other reasons. On the other hand, the reclining wheelchair described in Patent Document 2 is large, has a complex mechanism, and does not provide a continuous support surface between the seat and backrest, resulting in insufficient weight support in a semi-recumbent position. The portable toilet disclosed herein can solve at least some of the problems with the prior art described above.

The portable toilet disclosed herein is a chair-shaped portable toilet equipped with a toilet seat instead of a seat, and includes a chair frame body having an adjustable backrest and a first frame supporting the backrest, a legged toilet seat detachably attached to the chair frame body and including a toilet seat and a second frame supporting the toilet seat, and a detachable support plate having approximately the same width as the toilet seat. With the second frame engaged with the first frame and the legged toilet seat positioned relative to the chair frame body, one end of the support plate abuts the rear edge and the other end engages with the backrest, allowing the support plate to be fixed in a continuous position from the toilet seat and tilted at an angle corresponding to the tilt of the backrest.

The portable toilet disclosed herein can solve at least some of the problems of the prior art.

The first portable toilet disclosed herein is a chair-shaped portable toilet equipped with a toilet seat instead of a seat, and includes a chair frame body having an adjustable backrest and a first frame supporting the backrest, a legged toilet seat detachably attached to the chair frame body and including a toilet seat and a second frame supporting the toilet seat, and a detachable support plate having approximately the same width as the toilet seat. When the second frame is engaged with the first frame and the legged toilet seat is positioned relative to the chair frame body, one end of the support plate abuts the rear edge and the other end engages with the backrest, allowing the support plate to be fixed in a continuous position from the toilet seat and tilted at an angle corresponding to the tilt of the backrest.

In the first portable toilet, the support plate is positioned continuously from the toilet seat and tilted stably toward the backrest, allowing the user's weight to be supported by the backrest. This allows even users with lower back discomfort to safely and comfortably relieve themselves by tilting the backrest, i.e., in a comfortable, lying-down position (semi-recumbent position).

The second portable toilet of the present disclosure is the first portable toilet, wherein the chair frame is provided with a support portion that supports the one end of the support plate from below.

In the second portable toilet, the front end of the support plate is supported from below, effectively preventing it from sinking or shifting position when the user places their weight on it. This further improves the stability of the entire support plate, making it safer to use.

The third portable toilet of the present disclosure is the second portable toilet, wherein the first frame includes a width frame extending across the width of the chair frame, and the second frame includes a leg frame extending in the height direction of the legged toilet seat, and the width frame and the leg frame engage to position the legged toilet seat relative to the chair frame.

With the third portable toilet, the leg frame of the legged toilet seat engages with the width frame of the chair frame, allowing the legged toilet seat to be accurately and reliably positioned in a predetermined position. This prevents the seat from accidentally shifting position during use, improving safety and ease of use.

The fourth portable toilet of the present disclosure is the third portable toilet, wherein the other end of the support plate and the underside of the backrest are each provided with an engaging device for engaging the support plate with the backrest.

In the fourth portable toilet, engaging devices are provided on the rear end of the support plate and the underside of the backrest, allowing the support plate to be securely fixed to the backrest. As a result, the support plate does not accidentally shift, allowing it to stably perform its weight-supporting function.

The fifth portable toilet of the present disclosure is the fourth portable toilet, wherein the engaging device is a loop, and the loops provided on the backrest and the other end of the support plate are fastened with a string-like member to engage the support plate and the backrest.

In the fifth portable toilet, the support plate and backrest can be easily and securely fastened together using a string-like member, making assembly of the support plate easy and allowing for flexible attachment, detachment, and adjustment of the support plate depending on the user's physical condition and situation. As a result, comfort and convenience are further improved.

Specific examples of the portable toilet of the present disclosure will be described below with reference to the drawings. However, the dimensions, shape, materials, and relative positions of each part are merely examples, and the portable toilet of the present disclosure is not limited to these specific examples. Furthermore, the drawings are shown schematically where necessary to facilitate understanding, and do not necessarily accurately reflect the scale or actual shape.

Furthermore, the portable toilet of the present disclosure is not limited to the examples described below, and the material and shape of each component can be changed according to design requirements and usage conditions. Furthermore, as needed, each component can be omitted, or auxiliary components can be added; all of these are encompassed by this disclosure as long as they do not deviate from the spirit of this disclosure.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portable toilet 100 of the present invention. From an overall perspective, the portable toilet 100 has a chair-like structure with a toilet seat instead of a seat. The portable toilet 100 is primarily composed of a chair frame 10 without a seat, a legged toilet seat 30 that is detachably attached to the chair frame 10, and a detachable support plate 42 that is positioned behind the legged toilet seat 30; these components are independent of each other and can be easily disassembled and reassembled. Figure 2 is a perspective view showing the portable toilet 100 in an exploded state, and Figure 3 is a side view of the portable toilet 100.

The chair frame 10 includes a backrest 18 with adjustable tilt and a first frame supporting the backrest 18. The chair frame 10 has an opening for accommodating a legged toilet seat 30 (described below), and has the same basic structure as a typical chair, except that it does not include a seat. Specifically, it has a pair of left and right frame structures consisting of a lower frame 12A and an upper frame 12D (collectively referred to as "frames") that extend horizontally relative to the floor (installation surface), and a front leg frame 12C and a rear leg frame 12B that connect these in the vertical direction (height direction). Between these frame structures are a front width frame 14A and a rear width frame 14B (collectively referred to as "width frames") that extend in the width direction (left and right direction). These frames (12A-12D, 14A, 14B) are collectively referred to as the first frame in this specification.

The first frame ensures the rigidity of the entire chair frame 10 and forms a base structure for positioning and stably supporting the legged toilet seat 30 (described below). Although the chair frame 10 does not have a seat, an auxiliary frame 26 extending in the width direction is provided between the opposing upper frames 12D. In this embodiment, the auxiliary frame 26 includes a threaded bolt inserted through a through-hole formed in the upper frame 12D, and is detachable by fastening both ends with nuts. The auxiliary frame 26 can be removed as needed, and by attaching the auxiliary frame 26, the overall rigidity of the chair frame 10 can be further increased, even in a structure without a seat.

A backrest support frame 12E extends upward from the upper end of the rear leg frame 12B of the chair frame 10. The backrest 18 is supported between a pair of backrest support frames 12E, and the tilt angle of the backrest 18 can be adjusted as desired. Specifically, the backrest support frame 12E and the rear leg frame 12B are rotatably connected to each other, and a wing nut 22 is provided at the connection. The tilt angle of the backrest 18 can be adjusted by manipulating the wing nut 22, and adjustment is a simple process that does not require special tools.

In addition, wire locking bolts 16A and 16B are provided at the top of the front leg frame 12C and the upper end of the backrest support frame 12E, respectively. A wire 16C is stretched between these wire locking bolts 16A and 16B with a predetermined tension, so that the backrest support frame 12E is stably fixed at the desired angle not only by the fastening of the wing nut 22 but also by the wire 16C.

The materials used for the first frame, backrest support frame 12E, and backrest 18 are not particularly limited, and can be metal pipes, molded synthetic resin components, wood, or any suitable combination of these. This allows for an overall lightweight design with sufficient structural strength. Furthermore, casters or floor protection materials can be attached to the lower end of the lower frame 12A as needed, further enhancing mobility within a room and stability when installed.

Next, the legged toilet seat 30 is detachably attached to the chair frame 10 and comprises a toilet seat 32 and a second frame that supports the toilet seat 32. The second frame includes a plurality of leg frames that extend downward from the underside of the toilet seat 32, and the toilet seat 32 is supported at a predetermined height via these leg frames.
The second frame is configured to be engageable with the first frame of the chair frame 10, and this engagement structure positions and stably supports the legged toilet seat 30 in a predetermined position relative to the chair frame 10. The legged toilet seat 30 can be easily removed as needed, making it easy to clean and transport.

The legged toilet seat 30 is detachably attached to the chair frame 10 and is composed of a toilet seat 32 and a second frame that supports the toilet seat 32. The second frame is composed of a pair of left and right leg frames 34A, 34B that extend downward from the underside of the toilet seat 32, and a fulcrum pin 34C that connects the rear ends of these leg frames 34A, 34B.

The left and right (rear) leg frames 34B each engage with a front width frame 14A extending widthwise of the chair frame 10, thereby positioning the legged toilet seat 30 in a predetermined position relative to the chair frame 10 and providing stable support. As described below, the abutment portion 42E on one end of the support plate 42 abuts the rear edge 32E of the toilet seat 32, exerting a force that pushes the legged toilet seat 30 forward (in the X direction). However, because the legged toilet seat 30 is configured so that the rear leg frame 34B engages with the front width frame 14A, the legged toilet seat 30 is prevented from accidentally moving forward and causing the support plate 42 to come off.

A fulcrum pin 34C is inserted into the leg frames 34A, 34B at a midpoint in the height direction, thereby pivoting the leg frames 34A, 34B. The fulcrum pin 34C is not simply a fixed member; it is configured to support the left and right leg frames 34A, 34B so that they can rotate relative to each other within a predetermined range. This configuration makes it easy to fold or unfold the leg frames 34A, 34B when assembling or storing the legged toilet seat 30, improving transportability and storability. Furthermore, when the legged toilet seat 30 is installed on the chair frame 10, the leg frames 34A, 34B are designed to lock in a predetermined position, ensuring the stability of the legged toilet seat 30.

The bottom of the legged toilet seat 30 is provided with a footrest member 36 on which the user places their feet, and a spacer 38 that supports the footrest member 36. This configuration allows the user to maintain a stable posture when urinating. The rear end of the footrest member 36 is fixed to a frame (not shown) that is installed between the rear leg frames 34B. A spacer 38 is attached to the front end of the footrest member to keep the footrest member 36 level when installed.

The legged toilet seat 30 is detachable from the chair frame 10, making it highly convenient for cleaning and transport after use. Furthermore, the legged toilet seat 30 can be easily assembled into a continuous weight support structure with the support plate 42 (described below), allowing for flexible use according to the user's physical condition.

Next, the support plate 42 extends from the rear edge of the legged toilet seat 30 toward the backrest 18 and is a member for providing stable support for the user's lower back and back. The support plate 42 is formed as a flat structure with approximately the same width as the toilet seat 32, and is positioned to bridge the gap between the rear edge of the opening of the toilet seat 32 and the backrest 18.

An abutment portion 42E is provided at the front of the support plate 42 for abutting against the rear edge 32E of the toilet seat 32, making it easy to position the support plate 42. The abutment portion 42E is formed in a shape that corresponds to the rear edge 32E of the toilet seat 32, and by positioning the abutment portion 42E along the rear edge 32E of the toilet seat 32, the front end of the support plate 42 forms a fitting structure with the rear edge 32E of the toilet seat 32. This fitting structure allows the support plate 42 to be positioned continuously with the toilet seat 32 and prevents it from shifting position.

The upper frame 12D, which constitutes the first frame of the chair frame 10, is provided with support parts 24 that protrude inward. In this embodiment, the support parts 24 are formed by combining bolts and spacers, and are configured to be detachably installed on the upper frame 12D.

The support portion 24 is positioned so that it can support the front end of the support plate 42 from below, with the abutment portion 42E of the support plate 42 fitted onto the rear edge 32E of the toilet seat 32. Specifically, it is desirable that the support portion 24 be positioned in the height direction of the chair frame 10 at a position roughly the same as the seat height of the toilet seat 32, or a certain height higher than that. With this configuration, the support plate 42 can be fitted stably onto the rear edge of the toilet seat 32 and receive support from below.

A loop 44 is provided at the rear end of the support plate 42 for threading a string-like member 46, which serves as a fastener. A loop 20 is also provided at the upper end of the backrest 18. By threading the string-like member 46 through the loop 44 of the support plate 42 and the loop 20 of the backrest 18 and then fastening the string-like member 46, the rear end of the support plate 42 can be stably engaged with the backrest 18. With this configuration, the support plate 42 forms a three-point support structure: the engagement between the front abutment portion 42E and the rear edge 32E of the toilet seat 32, support by the lower support portion 24, and fixation by the rear string-like member 46, allowing for stable support of the user's weight.

A step 42G is formed on the support plate 42 so that the rear end of the support plate 42 can extend all the way to the rear of the backrest 18. Specifically, the step 42G is a recess or step provided on the underside of the support plate 42 to avoid interference with the backrest support frame 12E of the chair frame 10. This step 42G ensures that the rear end of the support plate 42 can be reliably extended all the way to the rear side of the backrest 18.

The support plate 42 is fixed at an angle that corresponds to the angle of inclination of the backrest 18, allowing the user's weight to be stably supported on the back side. Depending on the shape and position of the backrest support frame 12E, the support plate 42 may be able to be positioned without interference, so the step portion 42G is an optional feature that can be provided as needed and is not a required component.

The portable toilet 100 consists of a chair frame 10, a toilet seat with legs 30, and a support plate 42, each of which is independent and can be disassembled and assembled as needed. This improves convenience during cleaning, transportation, and storage. The assembled state and usage of the portable toilet 100 are explained below.

First, the legged toilet seat 30 is placed on the chair frame 10. Specifically, the rear leg frame 34B of the legged toilet seat 30 is engaged with the front width frame 14A of the chair frame 10. This positions the legged toilet seat 30 relative to the chair frame 10 and provides stable support.

Next, the support plate 42 is positioned so that it continues from the rear edge 32E of the legged toilet seat 30. Specifically, the abutment portion 42E formed on the front end of the support plate 42 is fitted into the rear edge 32E of the toilet seat 32, thereby stably positioning the front end of the support plate 42. Furthermore, by placing the support plate 42 on the support portion 24 provided on the upper frame 12D of the chair frame 10, the support plate 42 is supported from below, allowing it to be installed in a more stable state.

Next, a string-like member 46 is threaded through a loop 44 provided on the rear end of the support plate 42 and tied to a loop 20 provided on the upper end of the backrest 18. By tightening the string-like member 46 in this state with appropriate tension, the rear end of the support plate 42 is stably engaged with the backrest 18, and the support plate 42 is fixed at a predetermined angle of inclination corresponding to the angle of inclination of the backrest 18.

A step 42G is formed on the support plate 42, which allows the rear end of the support plate 42 to extend behind the backrest 18 while avoiding interference between the side of the support plate 42 and the backrest support frame 12E of the chair frame 10. With this configuration, the support plate 42 bridges the gap between the toilet seat 32 and the backrest 18, forming a continuous weight support structure that extends from the rear edge of the toilet seat 32 toward the back of the backrest 18. This provides stable support for the user's lower back and back.

Figure 4 is a perspective view of the legged toilet seat 30 when in use. When in use, as shown in Figure 4, the container 301 is set inside the opening of the toilet seat 32. The container 301 is detachable and is used to collect excrement, allowing for easy cleaning and replacement after use.

When a user uses the portable toilet 100, they first adjust the inclination of the backrest 18 to the desired angle according to their physical condition. This adjustment can be made using the wing nut 22 and wire 16C. Next, they install and secure the support plate 42 to the legged toilet seat 30 and chair frame 10 as described above, and then sit on the toilet seat 32 in a stable position. In particular, even users with lower back discomfort can use the toilet safely and comfortably in a semi-lying, more comfortable position, as the support plate 42 extends continuously from the rear edge of the toilet seat 32 toward the backrest 18 and is configured to support their weight in conjunction with the inclination of the backrest 18.

In addition, the footrest member 36 and spacer 38 provided at the front of the legged toilet seat 30 provide stable support for the user's feet, allowing them to use the toilet with greater peace of mind.

As an example, the inclination range of the backrest 18 can be from 0° (upright) to approximately 60° (reclined). In this case, it is preferable to configure it so that the angle can be set in 15° increments. Furthermore, the width W1 of the support plate 42 can be set within a tolerance of, for example, approximately ±5 mm relative to the outer diameter W0 of the toilet seat 32, and may be expanded to approximately W0 + 10 mm depending on the user's physique. The height H of the leg frames 34A, 34B may be approximately 400 mm from the floor, and may be adjustable within a range of approximately ±30 mm as needed. These values are merely examples and can be changed as appropriate depending on the user's physique and the installation environment.

After use, the support plate 42 can be removed from the backrest 18 and the container 301 can be removed through the opening in the toilet seat 32 for cleaning. This allows the entire portable toilet 100 to be kept hygienic at all times. Furthermore, because the legged toilet seat 30 and support plate 42 are both detachable and foldable, they can be disassembled and stored compactly when not in use, making them extremely convenient for transport and storage.

Figure 5 is a perspective view showing the portable toilet 100 when used in a normal upright position. As shown in Figure 3, by storing the legged toilet seat 30 within the chair frame 10 and adjusting the backrest 18 to a generally upright position, the user can also use the portable toilet 100 in a normal sitting position.

When used in this upright position, the legged toilet seat 30 is housed within the chair frame 10, but there is no need for the engagement structure shown in Figure 2, i.e., the leg frame 34B engaging with the front width frame 14A. This is because, in a normal sitting position, the user's weight acts vertically downward, so there is essentially no external force that would cause the legged toilet seat 30 to slide forward of the chair frame 10.

A footrest member 36 is also provided in front of the legged toilet seat 30, and when in use, this footrest member 36 is installed so that it is positioned on the front width frame 14A of the chair frame 10. With this configuration, the footrest member 36 presses down on the front width frame 14A from above, preventing the backrest 18 from tipping backward even if the user leans their weight against it. As a result, sufficient stability is ensured for the portable toilet 100 as a whole.

Furthermore, if necessary, the auxiliary frame 26 attached to the first frame of the chair frame 10 can be used. Using the chair with the auxiliary frame 26 attached can further increase the structural rigidity of the entire chair frame 10, creating a more stable usage environment. The auxiliary frame 26 can be easily removed when not needed, allowing for flexible adaptation to the user's physical condition and the installation location.

In this way, the portable toilet 100 can flexibly adjust the tilt of the backrest 18 depending on the user's physical condition and the installation environment, allowing for both a semi-recumbent position and a normal upright sitting position. Furthermore, the engagement structure between the legged toilet seat 30 and the chair frame 10 can be selectively used as needed, allowing for a high degree of freedom in installation and achieving both high levels of stability during use and ease of cleaning and transportation.

The portable toilet of the present disclosure is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and the details of each component can be modified in various ways depending on design requirements and usage conditions. For example, each frame component (first frame, second frame, backrest support frame, etc.) is not limited to metal pipes, but may also be formed from synthetic resin, wood, or an appropriate combination of these. Furthermore, the support plate may be made of a plastic plate, laminated material, a fabric sheet, or a structure with built-in cushioning material.

In addition, instead of a loop, the engaging device between the support plate and the backrest can be a buckle, hook-and-loop fastener, snap button, magnet, or other fastening means, and the leg frame of the legged toilet seat can be fixed, extendable, foldable, or equipped with a height adjustment mechanism. Furthermore, the backrest tilt adjustment mechanism can use known mechanisms such as a lever, ratchet, or electric mechanism in addition to a wing nut.

The opening of the toilet seat is not limited to being circular or oval, but can be U-shaped, rectangular with rounded corners, heart-shaped, etc., depending on the user's body type and purpose. The container 301 may also be simply bucket-shaped, or may have a structure equipped with deodorizing functions, a deodorizer retention mechanism, and an automatic flushing function. A toilet seat-shaped cushion or the like may also be placed on top of the toilet seat.

In addition, auxiliary frames, reinforcing members, and stabilizing legs can be added to the sides, rear, or diagonally of the legged toilet seat 30, and the material of the support plate 42 is not limited to resin, but can also be metal, fabric, or composite material. The string-like member 46 can be made of a stretchable or high-strength material, and the auxiliary frame 26 is not limited to a simple rod-shaped structure; it can be configured with multiple reinforcing bars, an X-shape, a grid, or other structures to further improve rigidity.

Furthermore, the lower frame of the chair frame 10 can be equipped with casters to make it mobile, and a headrest and armrests can be provided integrally or separately from the backrest 18. The width of the support plate 42 is not limited to being approximately the same as that of the toilet seat 32, but can be designed to be wider or narrower depending on the user's physique and purpose, and the shape is not limited to being flat, but can also be curved, uneven, or have ventilation holes.

In addition, the engagement structure between the backrest 18 and the support plate 42 can be a one-touch buckle, clip, hook-and-loop fastener, zipper, metal hook, etc., and the tilt adjustment structure can be a stepless adjustment mechanism, a hydraulic damper, an electric reclining mechanism, etc., as appropriate.

Furthermore, the container 301 can be in a variety of configurations, such as bag-shaped, pack-shaped, or equipped with a waste disposal function, and the step portion of the support plate can be omitted depending on the shape of the backrest support frame. The portable toilet 100 itself can also be designed for outdoor or emergency use, and can be equipped with a waterproof structure, a foldable storage bag, and a carrying handle. The legs and bottom can also be equipped with anti-slip pads, suction sheets, stopper mechanisms, etc.

Furthermore, to reduce the burden on caregivers, the legged toilet seat 30 and support plate 42 are lightweight and have a one-touch assembly structure that requires no tools. For improved visual identification, color coding, visibility enhancement processing, and pictogram display are also possible. Furthermore, in consideration of use by elderly and disabled people, audio guidance, warning sounds, usage status sensors, etc. can also be incorporated.

As such, the portable toilet of the present disclosure can be modified in a variety of ways without departing from the spirit of the invention, including the various configuration changes, material selection, shape changes, added functions, and adaptation to the usage environment, all of which are encompassed by the present disclosure.

The portable toilet disclosed herein can be used not only in nursing care facilities and home care settings, but also as a simple toilet during disasters, outdoor events, etc. It is particularly useful industrially in that it allows care-requiring individuals who previously had to defecate in bed to use the toilet outside of their bed, preserving their dignity and reducing the burden on caregivers.

Claims (5)

A chair-like portable toilet equipped with a toilet seat instead of a seat,
a chair frame body including a backrest whose inclination is adjustable and a first frame supporting the backrest;
a legged toilet seat that is detachably attached to the chair frame and includes the toilet seat and a second frame that supports the toilet seat;
a removable support plate having a width approximately equal to that of the toilet seat;
The portable toilet is configured such that, with the second frame engaged with the first frame and the legged toilet seat positioned relative to the chair frame, one end of the support plate abuts against the rear edge of the toilet seat and the other end engages with the backrest, so that the support plate can be fixed in a state where it is continuous with the toilet seat and inclined at an angle corresponding to the inclination of the backrest. A portable toilet as described in claim 3, wherein the other end of the support plate and the underside of the backrest are each provided with an engaging device for engaging the support plate with the backrest. A portable toilet as described in claim 4, wherein the engaging device is a through ring, and the through rings provided on the backrest and the other end of the support plate are fastened with a string-like member to engage the support plate and the backrest.
