Abstract

1436617 Searing; making container closures ALUMINUM CO OF AMERICA 23 July 1973 [17 Aug 1972 26 Dec 1972 7 May 1973] 35010/73 Headings B3A and B3J [Also in Division B8] A fracturable junction 24 in a container is formed by the introduction of a sheet of metal 10 between a first die member 48 and a second and correspondingly shaped die member 50 and with an auxiliary annular die 49 disposed on the same side of the sheet 10 as the first die member. The metal extruding edges of the die members are shown in a variety of possible profile types Figs. 14, 15, 16, 17 (not shown). The auxiliary annular die may have an annular coining rib 156 (not shown) in order to transport metal towards the fracturable web 24 during the stamping process. [GB1436617A]
