986,328. Convertible chairs. V. TCHERNIAVSKY. Nov. 28, 1963, No. 46992/63. Heading A4J. A convertible chair capable of selective reversal comprises a chair body 1 having two wings 1a, 1b which define the seat and the back support, a supporting structure 2 having pairs of legs 2b, 2g connected by cross-members 2e, 2f and by stringers 2a, the body 1 being connected to the structure 2 by pairs of rods 3, 8, the free ends of the rods 3 being pivotally connected to the wing 1a at 4 and to the structure 2 at 4a and the free ends of the rods 8 being pivotally connected at 9 to the structure 2 and at 10 to the wing 1b of the body. Arm rests may be provided on the supporting structure. Disconnectable locking devices 2a and 11 are provided for locking the body structure 1 in either of its limit positions. To oppose the action of gravity on the chair body 1 the rods 3 are provided in the articulation 4 with springs 14. One of the ends of each spring is supported on the structure 2 and the other end on the rod 3.
