Abstract

A suspension unit for a vehicle comprises a cylinder (1) in which works a damping piston (3) carried by a piston rod (4) extending sealingly through one end of the cylinder. To reduce the weight of the unit the piston rod (4) is hollow over at least part of its length. The hollow piston rod communicates the interior of cylinder (1) with a reservoir (5) which is attached to the piston rod (4). <IMAGE>
