Abstract

Cans, opening. - Relates to boxes or tins for containing preserved food, tobacco, snuff, cigarettes, and the like, and having projecting tongues which, by means of keys, are coiled and the covers thereby stripped. To facilitate the stripping, the material of the tin is weakened by stamping along the lines f, g, Fig. 4, so as to produce a displacement and to form the sharp angles k, shown in section in Fig. 1. The tongue k, Fig. 4, at the soldered part is made wider than the distance between the points f, f. Stiffening-ribs may be provided on the part to be stripped.
