Abstract

1426868 Adjustable beds GEORGE ELLISON Ltd 1 March 1973 [29 Feb 1972] 9183/72 Heading A4J A mattress support 16 is adjustably mounted on at each end of a base 10 by. two pairs of screw and nut devices 21, 25, the two screw and nut devices of each pair being spaced in a direction parallel to the width of the bed, the two screws of each pair being inter-connected by a toothed belt drive 26, one screw of each pair being provided with a V- belt pulley 29 and the two V-belt pulleys being connected by belts to a pair of coaxial pulleys 30, 31 driven by a handle connected to a driven shaft 32. A clutch may be provided for selectively disengaging the handle from the pulleys 30, 31 so that the two ends of the mattress support can be raised and lowered independently. The mattress support may be tiltable about a longitudinal axis.
