Abstract

1358427 Making cans DAIWA CAN CO Ltd 1 Nov 1971 [29 March 1971 24 April 1971] 50682/71 Headings B3A and B3J [Also in Division B8] In a tinplate can end A having a tear-out portion defined by a scoreline 1 on the inside surface of the end and a tab B riveted to the outside surface of the end with a rupturing nose located over the scoreline, the sectional configuration of the scoreline is formed by an arcuate side 9 adjacent the tear-out portion, an opposed planar side 7, and a flat bottom 8 whereby rupture occurs at the juncture of the side 7 and bottom 8. The location of the tab and score line on opposite sides of the can end permits the application of a rust-preventive coating over the whole scoreline after the tab has been attached. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the opposed planar side 7 is inclined to the can end surfaces.
