Abstract

1,273,381. Floor cranes. A. C. TIDSWELL. 14 Jan., 1970 [21 Jan., 1969], No. 3391/69. Heading B8H. A portable crane for use in hoisting engines from motor vehicles comprises a telescopic jib 45 pivotally connected to an upright structure 30 which is pivoted to a base structure, the arrangement being such that the jib can be folded down against the upright structure by means of the luffing ram 41 and the upright structure and jib can then be folded down to a position substantially parallel to the base structure, Fig. 4 (not shown). The base structure 20 comprises a pair of legs 21 interconnected by a cross-member 22, which pivotally supports uprights 31, and by a cross-member 26, which acts as an abutment against which pivoted stays 39 are locked in the operative position of the crane. The ram 41 is actuated by an assembly 42 which includes a pump actuated by a handle 44 and which is secured to one of the uprights 31.
