Abstract

1,264,653. Stoppers for cans. R. S. LUTZKER. 27 Feb., 1969 [8 March, 1968], No. 10527/69. Heading B8T. A resilient stopper 22 for sealing an opening 20 in the end wall of a can 12 has a tab 36 and a peripheral groove 30 to receive the edge of the opening 20. The depth of the groove 30 decreases towards the end with a tab, and is defined by the two flanges 32, 34. The upper flange 32 is of uniform extent around the periphery of the stopper 10 and the lower flange 34 tapers towards the end with the tab 36 where it is narrowest. The width of the groove 30 may be less than the thickness of the can wall 14 at the edge 20.
