Abstract

The container, comprising a cylindrical body (1) with its upper edge (2) rolled outwards, and a lid (5), incorporates a ring (7) of a supple material which fits over the edge of the container and has a groove (9) to receive the edge (6) of the lid. The ring is held in place by two or more outer lugs (15) which clip elastically over the container edge, at least one of the lugs having a detachable tongue (19) which is removed before the ring and lid can be opened.

Description

The subject of the present invention is a container, intended to contain various liquids, for example paints, varnishes, adhesives, etc., comprising a cylindrical body, a sealing plug and means for fixing the plug on a free edge of the body delimiting the opening of the container, sealing between said plug and said free edge.

In the state of the art, containers of this type are known, the body of which is generally metallic. The opening of this body is not complete, that is to say that the free edge of the body has a rim or a molding, or a rolled edge extending towards the interior of the container, and on which the means of support come to bear. fixing and sealing. The presence of such a rim projecting towards the inside of the container body consequently hinders the flow of the liquid which is inside of it, a fraction of which can thus be retained when the container is almost empty.

The object of the invention is to eliminate this drawback.

According to the invention, the means for fixing the cap and sealing the container comprise a ring of flexible material in the inner periphery of which the edge of the cap can be inserted elastically, and this ring is profiled so that it can be clipped onto the free edge of said body, this free edge being rolled outwards.

Thus, once the plug and the flexible ring have been removed, the opening of the container is complete, since the free rolled edge of the body is oriented towards the outside and no element impedes the flow of the fluid.

According to a feature of the invention, the ring has an inner annular rib adapted to delimit a groove in which can be introduced a rolled edge constituting the periphery of the plug, which is clipped said annular rib.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the ring, made of a suitable plastic material such as polyethylene, comprises at least two external peripheral tongues, adapted to resiliently cover the free rolled edge of the container in order to fix the ring and the stopper on the latter in a sealed manner.

Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent during the description which follows, given with reference to the appended drawing which illustrates an embodiment thereof by way of nonlimiting example. Figure 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the closure and sealing device of a container according to the invention, the cap not being shown.

Figure 2 is a perspective view and partial section on an enlarged scale of the closure device of Figure 1 and the upper part of the container body.

The container partially illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 is intended to receive various liquids such as paints, varnishes etc.

It comprises a cylindrical body 1, the opening of which, at its upper part, is delimited by a free edge 2 rolled outwards: this free edge 2 thus consists of a first part 3 curved outwards from the top of the wall of the body 1, and of an annular end portion folded outwardly towards the wall of the body 1. With such a rolled edge 2, the opening of the container is therefore total, no element in relief 'being produced from inner side of the body 1, overhanging with respect to the inner wall of the latter.

The container has a closure cap 5, generally metallic and the periphery of which is constituted by an edge 6 which rolls outwards. The container is completed by plug fixing means 5 on the body 1 and sealing.

These means comprise a ring 7 of flexible material, may be a plastic material such as polyethylene, and which is produced in the following manner. The ring 7 firstly comprises an inner annular rib 8 adapted to delimit a groove 9 extending around the periphery of the plug 5 and profiled so that the rolled edge 6 can be introduced into this groove 9 so that the rib 8 can snap onto the rolled edge 6.

The annular rib 8 is extended towards the inside of the body, an annular part 11 adapted to bear on the inner wall of the body 1 and which has a shoulder 12 extending in contact with the inner face of the plug 5 over an appropriate radial width. , preferably substantially equivalent to that of the rolled edge 6. The rib 8 and the annular part 11 are extended towards the outside by a radial extension 13 whose inner face 14 is curved so as to bear on the corresponding convex part 3 of the edge rolled 2 of body 1, ensuring the seal between the inside and the outside of the container. This inner face 14 is advantageously provided with flaps 20 formed by thin membranes bearing on the curved part 3 and which provide additional sealing.

Furthermore, the ring 7 is provided with at least two external peripheral lugs 15 adapted to resiliently cover the free rolled edge 2 in order to fix the ring 7 and the plug 5 on the body 1 of the container. Each fixing lug 15 thus comprises a part 16 connected by bridge 17 to the shoulder or bead 13. The part 16 is extended towards the bottom of the container by a lug 18 extending roughly parallel to the wall of the body 1 and which thanks to an inclined upper face, is clipped elastically under the terminal part 4 of the rolled edge 2, thereby ensuring the fixing of the ring 7 on the body 1.

The ring 7 can thus comprise at least two diametrically opposite lugs 15, and preferably a greater number, for example eight distributed uniformly around the periphery of the container.

At least one lug 15 is extended by a tear-off external tongue 19, covering the lug 15 and extending over at least part of the periphery of the ring 7. Preferably, the tongue 19 extends over the entire periphery of the ring 7 by covering the various fixing lugs 15, with which it came from molding. As follows from the above description, the ring or capsule 7 has a profile which matches that of the rolled edge 2 of the body 1 by pressing on the curved upper part 3 and clipping on the lower part 4, thus ensuring the sealing of the container.

The container is opened as follows. First, the tamper-evident tab 19 is torn in order to separate it from the rest of the ring 7. Then the lugs 15 are lifted so as to unclip them from the rolled edge 2 by sliding them outwards. When the various tabs 15 have thus been released from the edge 2, the assembly of the ring 7 and of the plug 5 can be lifted and separated from the edge 2 of the container to allow its total opening. The ring 7 and plug 5 assembly can be replaced in the same way to close the body 1, by clipping the different tabs 15 onto the rolled edge 2.

If necessary the operator can use a tool such as a screwdriver to release the tabs 15 from the rolled edge 2, as well as to extract only the plug 5 from the rib 8. It should also be noted that the annular extension 13 defines a shoulder or step located substantially in the extension of the wall of the body 1, which makes it possible to stack containers on top of each other. Indeed the bottom of the body 1 of a container can come to bear on the annular step 13 of the lower container and so on. Boxes or containers can thus overlap with an excellent mutual base.

Container comprising a cylindrical body (1 a sealing plug and means for fixing the plug on a free edge (2) of the body delimiting the opening of the container, and for sealing between said plug and said free edge, characterized in that that, the free edge (2) of the body) being rolled outwards, said means comprise a ring (7) of flexible material in the inner periphery of which the edge (6) of the plug can be inserted elastically, and in this that this ring is profiled so that it can be clipped onto the free edge (2) of said body. 2. Container according to claim 1, characterized in that the ring (7) has an inner annular rib (8) adapted to delimit a groove in which a rolled edge (6) constituting the periphery of the plug (2) can be introduced, on which is clipped said annular rib. Container according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the ring has at least two external peripheral lugs (15), adapted to resiliently cover the free rolled edge (2) of the body (1) in order to fix the ring the plug (5 ) on the latter. 4. Container according to claim 3, characterized in that at least lug (15) is extended by an external tear-off tab (19), covering the lug and extending over at least part of the periphery of the ring 5. Container according to claim 4, characterized in that the tear-off tongue (19) extends over the entire periphery of the ring (7) covering the various fixing lugs (15). 6. Container according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the annular rib (8) is extended towards the inside body (1) of the container by annular part (11) adapted to bear on the inner wall of said body (1), and by a radial extension (1 profiled for sealingly pressing against the free rolled edge (2) of the body. 7. Container according to one of claims 5 and 6, characterized in that said radial extension ( 13) delimits an annular step (13) situated substantially in the extension of the wall of the body (1), and which thus makes it possible to stack containers on top of each other 8.
