Abstract

The present invention relates to a sheet for hospital bedding. It consists of a combination of, firstly, a pneumatic, hygienic, elastic and disposable sheet (1) formed by two flexible and impermeable films, and a third film, in contact with the patient, preferably made of a nonwoven material, these being arranged in three successive layers which are joined to one another by heat-bonding, welding or any other means, the two lower impermeable layers forming an inflatable double enclosure in order to provide, once they have been filled with air, on the one hand a pillow (2) and on the other hand a seat (9) which is recessed at its centre; secondly a flexible and sealed bag (11) which is fixed in the hollow part (10) of the sheet by means of, for example, a two-sided adhesive tape (12) and is put into position by the nursing staff while the bed is being made; finally, an inflation air distributor (3) connected to a compressed air source and allowing the patient to inflate or deflate the pillow (2) and the seat (9) separately as required and without the help of the nursing staff. It is intended for persons having to remain in bed, such as patients who are ill, injured or burnt, whether they are hospitalised or not.

Description

SHEET FOR HOSPITAL BEDDING
The present invention relates to a sheet for hospital bedding.

It is intended for people who have to keep the bed, such as sick, injured or burned whether they are hospitalized or not.

The collection of stool or urine from these people is usually carried out using enamelled or plastic containers, the use of which not only requires frequent and unpleasant interventions by hospital staff, but is a cause of definite discomfort for the sick, not to mention the problem of their dignity.

There are fitted mattresses with openings to allow the droppings to pass through, as described, for example, in patents NO 1,371,398 or 1,465,058, but these items of equipment are very expensive and require special sheets.

The device according to the present invention eliminates these drawbacks. Indeed, it allows a noticeable improvement not only in the comfort and dignity of the sick, burned or injured; but also working conditions for staff, while allowing a reduction in the costs of equipment, labor and related products. It adapts to all common bedding and does not require a special mattress.

It is made up of a combination of a pneumatic, hygienic, elastic and disposable sheet, formed by two flexible, waterproof sheets and a third sheet, in contact with the patient, preferably made of non-woven material arranged in three successive layers. , assembled by heat sealing, welding or any other means, the two impermeable lower layers forming a double inflatable enclosure to constitute, once filled with air on the one hand, a pillow on the other hand, a seat hollowed in its center, then a flexible and waterproof bag fixed in the hollow part of the seat thanks, for example, to a double-sided adhesive strip and put in place by the staff during the preparation of the bed, finally of an inflation air distributor connected to a source of compressed air and allowing the patient to inflate or deflate separately the pillow and the seat according to his convenience and without assistance of the personnel.

The device, FIGS. 1 to 7, consists of a disposable sheet 1 comprising an attached pillow 2 and an inflation distributor 3 connected to a source of compressed air 4 provided with a regulator adjusted to approximately 0.5 bar. .

The sheet 1 is formed of three layers assembled by heat sealing, welding or the like. The two lower layers 5 and 6 are joined by their edges and by partitions so as to form two watertight and inflatable chambers which are independent and which constitute a pillow 2 and a seat 9, the latter, once inflated, having in its center a recess 10 , in which a flexible and waterproof bag can be placed.

The third layer 7, preferably made of nonwoven material, covers the other two and is in contact with the patient. It has flaps 8 on each side and at the foot of the bed intended to be passed under the mattress 14 to hold the device in place.

The flexible and waterproof bag 11 is put in place by the staff during the preparation of the bed. I1 is fixed to the disposable sheet I by means of a double-sided adhesive strip 12 and can be closed after use using cords 13.

The inflation distributor 3 is connected on the one hand to a source of compressed air 4 by a flexible tube 15, and on the other hand to the pillow 2 and to the seat 9 by two other flexible tubes 16, 17. It can be made up of a system with double drawers 18, 19 which can be maneuvered by means of a lever 20 allowing, depending on its position, independent inflation or deflation of the pillow and of the seat. It is provided with an exhaust 21 for deflation.

In an alternative embodiment, not shown, the inflation dispenser comprises four valves controlled by four push buttons, two of which allow the inflation of the pillow or the seat, the other two being intended for deflation.

Thanks to its simplicity, its ease of use and its low cost, the device which has just been described lends itself particularly well to equipping hospital beds, clinics or retirement homes, but also private beds.

The positioning of the various constituent elements gives this device a maximum of useful effects which had not been obtained to date by similar devices.
