Abstract

A closure for sealing bottle tops having an annular lip is made of elastic material, pref. styrene-butadiene rubber, and comprises a thin wall blind hollow stopper which is an interference fit into the bottle mouth and supports a hollow crown fitted with pivotted tabs which can clamp beneath the external lip on the bottle top. The crown is covered with a metal foil sheath which may be embossed or printed etc. Used for sealing or resealing bottles containing pressurised drinks. The elasticity of the internal plug utilises the internal pressure to maintain the seal.
