Abstract

A new plastics mixture is obtd. by the addn. of 5-25 wt.% styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block terpolymer to a mixt. styrene resin and polyolefin resin. Pref. the SBS polymer is added in an amt. of 10 wt.% to a mixt. of 20-70 wt. pts. polystyrene and 7020 pts. wt. polyethylene or polypropylene. The mixt. can be extrudd in a homogeneous form to give prods. of uniform appearance and excellent mech. props., unlike when the mixt. of styrene polymer and polyolefin is used alone. The prods. are used for packaging and packing.
