Abstract

The cap is moulded from plastics and has a flat top with sidewalls (2). These have a thread (3), corresponding to that of the bottle. At the top of this thread, inside the cap, is a flexible lip (5). This is pushed outwards into a recess (6) by the rim of the bottle neck (12), forming a seal. Second and third seals are formed by a rounded shoulder (8) and an annular bead (9). Nearer the centre is a larger annular lip (10), projecting downwards and provided with smaller horizontal lips (11) on the surface opposite the thread. These lips seal against the inner faces of the bottle opening.
