Abstract

Method and its corresponding apparatus for forming a sheet metal container component having at least one inwardly movable opening plate and a deformable portion projecting outwardly and arranged so as to be integrally interconnected therewith by of a tear-away membrane, said method being characterized in that a metal sheet is inserted between a first die element having a first substantially flat metal extrusion surface and a second substantially pseudo-conical metal extrusion surface defining with it a corner at the location of the intersection between these surfaces, and a second die element that includes a first base surface and a second metal drawing surface arranged angularly, an auxiliary die device being arranged on the same side of the sheet metal as said first die element, having a super metal drawing base surface oriented generally in an opposite direction with respect to said first surface of said die element and being laterally separated from it relative to an axis of displacement of said dies, because it moves linearly in said first die element towards said second die element to selectively move said first and second surfaces of said first die element by bringing them closer to said surfaces of said second die element so that it comes into contact with said sheet metal and to laterally move parts of it within the displacement zone of said die surfaces by the joint action of said first and second surfaces of said first and second die elements in order to form said tear-off membrane, whereby movement of said die element is stopped when the vertex of said corner of said first element All of the die is arranged substantially in line with said first surface of said second die element, and because said auxiliary die device is linearly displaced towards said second die element to selectively move said base surface thereof to an offset position longitudinally predetermined with respect to said first surface of said second die element in the direction of movement of the die to form said deformable portion by their joint action.
