Abstract

A metal end closure (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), of a can for pressurized beverages has a rigid tear lever (26) integrally attached at a peened over embossment or rivet (29) to a tear-out area (22) enclosed by an endless score line (24). Raised beads (32), (34) adjacent and parallel to opposed portions of the score line (22) shield the consumer's lips from the raw metal edges, when the pouring opening has been formed. Raised beads (28) increase the rigidity of the tear lever (26).
