Description

The present invention relates to a device to allow a bedridden person to perform his needs without appeal to a third party, and to avoid the difficult use of a pool.

For more than a century the technique has tried to find solutions to the problems caused by the constant bed rest of certain patients. They were intended to bring relief both in terms of the suffering and discomfort suffered by the patient, as well as to make the task easier for caregivers. Hence sometimes some repetitions in the arguments developed by the applicants of projects for obtaining a patent, including for the present deposit.

In the usual way, the medical beds allow a patient to have the position lying down, or half lying or sitting. The patent application US 2008/0229502 describes a bed with a system of setting up a basin between two elements of the mattress that are movable to create a space for the basin.

The device of the invention is defined by the features of the main claim.

The particularity of the invention presented is that the device can be adapted to already existing structures. The "structure" corresponds to what can be called "bedstead", or "bed frame" in terms of medical beds that are often metal.

The device presented is a bed that must allow a person immobilized to eliminate materials and urine without body manipulation. It can be the subject of a special manufacture or adaptation to an already existing basic structure.

The present invention enables the patient to meet his or her natural needs in a comfortable position and promoting elimination. It also allows to proceed to its toilet in the same conditions. It also has some advantages in terms of ergonomics.

More specifically, the invention provides a bed whose mattress and mattress are in two parts can be raised independently of one another. The separation between the elements is at the buttocks of the elongated person. At this level, the bed is equipped with a container that will collect the waste.

Claims (4)

1. Device for allowing a person immobilised in a hospital bed having motorised functions to eliminate faeces and urine without body manipulation, consisting of a bed comprising a mattress support in two parts (1-2) and also a mattress in two parts (3-4) which are independent from each other, the bed base (5) being provided with lateral rails (6-7) for creating a space (8) between the two independent parts of the mattress support and of the mattress, characterised in that the base of the bed is also provided with transverse rails (9-10) on which fits a container (11) for collecting waste, and in that the two parts of the mattress support are composed of two independent portions, the first corresponding to the torso, the second to the legs, the two parts being raised independently from each other.

Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the bed base comprises two lateral rails which receive the "legs" part of the mattress support, two transverse rails, and two clearances, the first at the foot of the bed so that the horizontal sliding of the mattress support can take place and the second at the lateral sides to allow the container to be retrieved.
3. Device according to either of the preceding claims, characterised in that the two parts of the mattress have a length corresponding to that of the two parts of the mattress support, the two parts of the mattress being interconnected, on each side, by a resilient element.
4. Device according to any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the container for collecting waste is made of plastics material and has a rimmed neck which allows displacement on the rail, the handles being recessed or in relief.
