Der jeweils andere Rutscher 36 untergreift den Längsholm 38 schräg seitlich von einer Innenseite und von unten und sichert die Sitz- und Liegefläche 14 gegen Abheben vom Gestell 12.   1. Furniture for sitting and lying, having a sitting and lying surface (14), a back rest (20) at a rear side and a side part (26) at a lateral end of the sitting and lying surface (14), said side part being pivotable back and forth between a lying position, which elongates the sitting and lying surface (14) laterally, and a standing position, in which the side part (26) forms a back rest, wherein the side part (26) includes two elements (30, 32) that are pivotable towards each other such that the side part (26) itself is pivotable in the same direction as the side part (26) overall, such that, on its own without the other element (30) of the side part (26), an end element (32) of the side part (26) is pivotable into a standing position, in which it forms an arm rest of the furniture for sitting and lying (20), said furniture for sitting and lying also having a pivoting and locking fitting (28), which connects the side part (26) pivotably to the sitting and lying surface (14), and a pivoting and locking fitting (28), which interconnects the elements (30, 32) of the side part (26) in a pivotable manner, wherein the pivoting and locking fittings (28) hold the side part (26) and its elements (30, 32) in their positions.
  2. Furniture for sitting and lying according to Claim 1, characterized in that the furniture for sitting and lying (10) has a frame (12) on which the sitting and lying surface (14) including the side part (26) is mounted so as to be displaceable in the lateral direction.
  3. Furniture for sitting and lying according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the back rest (20) is pivotable back and forth between a standing leaning position and a lying position that increases the sitting and lying surface (14) in the direction of its depth.
