Bed frame with a mattress support frame

The invention relates to a bed frame with a mattress support frame, which has a support frame middle part, a support frame head part and a support frame foot part, of which the support frame head part and the support frame foot part can be pivoted about horizontal axes of rotation relative to the support frame middle part, wherein the support frame middle part is guided in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the bed frame on a guide in at least a largely horizontal orientation when the support frame head part or support frame foot part is in an at least approximately upright position within the bed frame and is mounted so as to be pivotable about a vertical axis of rotation.

A bed frame with a mattress support frame is known from German utility model 296 14 514.9, the support frame head and foot sections of which are pivotably deflected to the support frame middle section using horizontally arranged axes of rotation. The support frame middle section is guided longitudinally within the bed frame when the support frame head section is positioned vertically. For the purpose of longitudinally displaceable guidance, two guide axes are provided which extend between the head element of the bed frame and which are arranged at the same distance from an imaginary longitudinal center axis, whereby the support frame middle section is guided longitudinally displaceably in a horizontal position by the two guide axes and is mounted so as to be pivotable about a vertical axis of rotation.

The structure of the bed frame on the one hand and the longitudinally movable storage of the support frame middle section on the other hand create at least the possibility for a bedridden person in need of care to be mobile within the clear width of the bed frame, especially if the middle section is movable, for example by electric drive.

However, the known bed frame is disadvantageous in that no other aids or means of transport, for example in the form of a side table or a toilet chair for the bedridden person, can be placed inside the bed frame due to insufficient space and that the enveloping circle of the middle part of the support frame lies outside the bed frame on the rear side when pivoting around the vertical axis of rotation. The bed cannot stand completely against a wall when pivoting vertically.

The invention is based on the object of improving the bed frame according to the preamble of claim 1 with simple constructive measures while at the same time increasing the utility.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the guide is arranged laterally offset from an imaginary central axis running in the longitudinal direction of the bed frame and, due to an additional transverse movement of the mattress central part, the enveloping circle of the mattress central part lies on the rear side within the bed frame when pivoting about the vertical axis of rotation. The bed can stand completely against a wall when pivoting vertically.

The asymmetrical arrangement of the guide to the width of the bed frame, in conjunction with the pivoted mattress frame in the sitting position, creates a free or storage space within the bed frame, whereby aids or means of transport can be positioned in such a way in relation to the middle part of the mattress frame that, for example, the sick person who is already in a sitting position can transfer to a toilet or wheelchair from this

The person can even do this themselves or it can be done by a carer in a way that saves energy, since moving the person in need of care only requires sliding onto the toilet or wheelchair or from these onto the middle section of the support frame. The sick person also has the option of having a rollable storage or bedside table placed near them, which gives the sick person immediate access to personal or medicinal items placed on the bedside table or storage table without any outside help. The mattress frame, which is arranged in the shape of a chair, can be swivelled within the bed frame in such a way that the person can lie in bed in both directions, i.e. the headboard of the bed frame becomes the footboard and vice versa.

The space and room available for introducing aids and transport means within the bed frame is particularly large if, according to a preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the guide is provided on the side edges of the bed frame.

The guide is particularly space-saving and unobtrusive if, according to a further advantageous embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the guide runs between the head and foot sections and is arranged on them.

In addition, such an arrangement of the guide provides a dimensionally stable connection between the head and foot sections without any additional measures, so that further stiffening and connecting elements between the two end faces of the bed frame can be omitted, thereby reducing costs.

According to a next preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the guide is fixed at least approximately to the section of the bed frame near the floor, to its foot and head sections.

Such an attachment of the guide to the head and foot sections gives the bed frame a special positional stability and stability due to the shift in the centre of gravity close to the floor, even in the event of unwanted and unpredictable movements of the bedridden person.

The guide is designed to be particularly smooth-running if, according to a further preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the guide is designed as a guide carriage mounted on a ball or roller bearing on a guide element.

The guide can be manufactured particularly simply, load-bearing and at the same time with precise guidance if, according to a further advantageous embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the guide comprises a guide element with a flat profile in cross section.

The guide element can be provided particularly cost-effectively and can be easily joined to the head and foot sections to form the bed frame if, according to a next preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the guide element is rectangular in cross section with the longer rectangular side arranged horizontally.

According to an alternative embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it can be provided that the guide element is rectangular in cross section, wherein the longer side of the rectangle is arranged at least approximately vertically.

According to a further alternative embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the guide element is oval in cross section, wherein the longer oval side is arranged at least approximately horizontally.

According to an alternative embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it can be provided that the guide element is oval in cross section, wherein the longer oval side is arranged at least approximately vertically.

Such a design and arrangement of the guide element results in a particularly high moment of resistance against deflection, which means that highly precise and smooth guidance can be provided even with a low cross-sectional height of the guide element.

This type of guidance achieves particularly favourable guidance properties.

According to a next advantageous embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the guide element supports the mattress frame at its support frame middle part in a guide part which has means by means of which the support frame middle part can be moved transversely to the direction of extension of the guide.

This creates an additional degree of freedom of movement within the bed frame for the mattress frame, which can be shaped like a chair, so that a bedridden person with limited freedom of movement has the option of moving into any position within the bed frame and thus changing the direction in which they lie and look. If the guided, movable elements are equipped with an electric motor drive, a change in position can be achieved particularly quickly and with minimal effort, without the need for any third party assistance.

The middle part of the support frame can be designed to be particularly compact and robust if, according to a further advantageous embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, the means are designed as additional slides and have a vertical axis of rotation on which the middle part of the support frame is pivotably mounted.

According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the support frame foot part and the support frame head part are longer than the support frame middle part, which has at least approximately the seat depth of a commercially available chair.

By dimensioning the individual sections of the mattress support frame in this way, it can be converted into a chair with comfortable seating properties for the bedridden person, whereby the long design of the head section, which may extend above the person's head area, provides very intensive support for the person's back area, which promotes the feeling of sitting, while the longer design of the support frame foot section compared to the middle section of the support frame, which serves as a seat, ensures very pleasant and fatigue-free support for the person's lower legs. In addition, the longer dimensioning of the support frame head section and the support frame foot section compared to the support frame middle section means that both the support frame head section and the support frame foot section can be exchanged for one another in terms of their function, especially if the support frame head section and the support frame foot section are the same length. In addition, the shorter design of the middle section of the support frame compared to the head section and the foot section of the support frame, particularly when the head section or foot section of the support frame is at least almost vertical, allows the middle section of the support frame to rotate within the bed frame with a minimized turning radius and thus with minimal space requirements. The possibility of additional transverse movement of the middle section of the support frame using an additional slide means that the envelope of the middle section of the support frame is completely within the bed frame when pivoting vertically. The bed can stand completely against a wall when pivoting.

According to a next preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the support frame base part has an at least approximately horizontally extending axis of rotation, whereby the support frame base part is divided into two longitudinal sections that can be arranged at least approximately at right angles to one another, wherein the longitudinal sections can be locked at least in their continuous orientation.

The additional ability to pivot one foot section against the other means that the free, end foot section can be brought into a parallel plane to the middle section of the support frame that serves as a seat, meaning that the end foot section can be used as a support to support the feet of the bedridden person. This is particularly helpful if the person's legs are severely restricted in their function or are paralyzed. To support the end foot section on a floor, a support element, for example in the form of a pivoting roller, is provided on the free end section. In this context, it has proven advantageous if the end foot section is shorter in length than the foot section that is articulated to the middle section of the support frame.

The support frame head and/or the support frame foot part are supported in a particularly stable and robust manner if, according to a further advantageous embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, a support element that can be brought into its support position is provided on the support frame middle part for supporting the support frame head and/or the support frame foot part in an at least approximately horizontal position.

According to a next preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that a carrying device is provided on the bed frame which extends over its length and on which a handle which can be grasped by a bedridden person is arranged so as to be longitudinally displaceable.

In this way, a bedridden person with significantly restricted legs or legs that are no longer functional due to paralysis is given the opportunity to lift themselves up from their current sitting or lying position and thus, for example, to be able to move without outside help after sitting or lying in the same position for a long time. The carrying device arranged along the entire length of the bed frame means that the bedridden person can be moved and relieved in any position within the bed frame.

The carrying device can be mounted on the bed frame and manufactured as a kit particularly easily and therefore inexpensively if, according to a preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, the carrying device is formed by a U-shaped bracket, one leg of which is attached to the foot part and the other leg to the head part of the bed and the handle is arranged on the base of which. At the same time, such a carrying device can be designed with sufficient load-bearing capacity even with reduced wall thickness and external dimensions.

According to a next preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the bracket legs are designed to be height-adjustable.

Such a carrying device can be easily adjusted to the body size of different people, so that the handle can always be positioned within reach of the person in bed. With a telescopic, stepless or step-by-step height adjustment, this can be achieved particularly quickly and easily.

According to a last preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, it is provided that the bracket base can be arranged transversely to the longitudinal direction of the bed frame in at least two different positions to the width of the bed frame.

Due to such an adjustment option of the carrying device, the handle can be quickly brought to any position within the bed frame thanks to its longitudinal displacement on the carrying device and can therefore be used as an aid by a bedridden person.

The invention is explained in the following description using an embodiment shown in simplified form in the accompanying drawings. They show:

According to Fig. 1, a bed frame 10 is shown with its two frame end elements arranged at the front, of which one end element is designed as a headboard 11 and the other end element as a footboard 12. Both the headboard 11 and the footboard 12 each have two pivotally mounted transport rollers 13 to support them on a floor (not described in more detail), each of which is arranged on the lateral edge sections of the headboard 11 or the footboard 12. The headboard 11 is connected to the footboard 12 on the one hand by means of an upright, flat-profile connecting web 14 arranged on the upper lateral edge and serving as a side rest, and on the other hand by means of a support profile in a dimensionally and torsionally rigid manner, which is part of a guide 15 and is designed as a guide element 15.1 . The guide element 15.1 is arranged laterally offset by the offset V to a longitudinal center axis M on the side edges of the head part 11 and the foot part 12 and in this case is rectangular with a horizontally arranged longer side of the rectangle. The guide element 15.1 carries a guide carriage 16 which is guided on the guide element 15.1 so that it can be moved longitudinally in the direction of the double arrow, e.g. using a roller or ball bearing. On the guide carriage 16 there is an additional guide carriage 17 which is guided so that it can be moved transversely to its guide direction symbolically indicated by a double arrow and is designed as a dovetail guide in the present embodiment with a guide lower part 18 fixed to the guide carriage 16 and a guide upper part 19 which is in guiding engagement with it. This has a vertically arranged axis of rotation 20, by means of which a support frame middle part 22 belonging to a mattress support frame 21 is pivotably mounted and fastened to the guide upper part 19. The support frame middle part 22 has a telescopically extendable support element 25 and 26 at its ends 23 and 24, which are self-supporting in the extended state and which protrude laterally with their free ends from the side sections of the additional guide carriage 17 in the extended state. In addition to the support elements 25 and 26,

23 and 24 each have a horizontally arranged rotation axis 27 and 28, of which the rotation axis 27 connects a support frame head part 29 to the support frame middle part 22 in an articulated, pivotable manner, while the rotation axis 28 serves for the articulated, pivotable connection of a support frame foot part 30 to the support frame middle part 22. The support frame base part 30 is equipped with a horizontally arranged axis of rotation 31 approximately in the middle of its length, whereby the support frame base part 30 is divided into two longitudinal sections 32 and 33 of approximately equal length, the longitudinal section 32 facing the support frame middle section being supported in its horizontal position by the support element 26, whereas a support part 34 fixed in the area of the axis of rotation 31 and able to be brought into the supporting position serves to support the longitudinal section 33 arranged far from the support frame middle section 22 in the horizontal position. The longitudinal section 33 has pivotable rollers 34.1 serving as support elements at its free end and can be pivoted with its free end about the axis of rotation 31 by a pivot angle μ. of approximately 90° in the direction of the arrow, the longitudinal section 33 is arranged horizontally at least approximately like the support frame middle section 22 and can be used as a support surface. The support frame middle section 22, together with the support frame head section 29 and the support frame foot section 30, forms the mattress support frame 21, which is equipped with spring elements (not shown in detail) that are usually used in mattress frames and is fitted with a padded support 35 that serves as a mattress, which extends over the entire area spanned by the mattress frame 21 and is held on the mattress frame with detachable fastening means (not shown). The padded support 35 serves as a lying surface for a bedridden and/or care-dependent person P.

Person P has the option of lifting themselves up from time to time using a handle 36, in this case in the shape of a triangle, which is held longitudinally by means of a holding loop 37 on a carrying device 38 attached to the bed frame 10, in order to relieve parts of their body that are unevenly loaded, for example due to long periods of lying down, and to have the option of changing their lying position without outside help. The carrying device 38 is designed as a U-shaped bar and has a bar base 39, from which the holding loop 37 with the handle 36 hangs, as well as two bar legs 40, which have a bearing holder 41 at their free ends and which are both telescopically adjustable either in steps or continuously (not shown). One of the bar legs 40 is attached to the foot section 12 and the other to the head section 11 of the bed frame 10. The bracket legs 40 are fastened by a bearing bolt 42 (shown schematically) arranged on the outside of the head part 11 or the foot part 12, on which the bracket legs 40 are pivotably mounted and held by means of their bearing holder 41. The pivoting bearing of the bracket legs 40 allows the support device 38 to be pivoted by the angle α, whereby in the present case two individual positions I and �P can be created for the support device 38 by pivoting. At a distance from the bearing holder 41, towards the bracket base 39, the bracket legs 40 have a locking holder 43 for inserting a locking bolt (not shown). With the help of this locking bolt, which can be inserted into a locking hole 44 on the head part 11 or the foot part 12 in the locking position, the support device can be fixed in the selected position I or II.

The person P now has the possibility of being brought from a lying position to a sitting position (see Fig. 3) due to the frame elements which can be pivoted independently of one another and are articulated on the middle part 22 of the support frame and are designed as a support frame head part 29 and a support frame foot part 30. To do this, in a first step the longest support frame head part 29 must be brought into an almost upright position. The mattress support frame 21 must then be moved longitudinally into the space created by setting up the support frame head part 29 in the direction of the head part 11 by means of the guide carriage 16 which can be moved on the guide element 15.1. After this longitudinal displacement, the support frame foot part 30 has achieved a distance with its free end from the inside of the foot part 12. The distance which can be achieved due to the longitudinal displacement

between the support frame foot part 30 and the foot part 12 must be dimensioned such that a pivoting movement of the mattress support frame 21 by means of the rotation axis 20 by approximately 90° pivoting position is possible.

In its pivoted position, the mattress support frame 21 now extends perpendicular to the guide 15 (see Fig. 1 and Fig. 3), whereby this position is achieved due to the transverse adjustment option of the support frame middle section 22 provided by the additional guide slide 17 in such a way that the support frame head section 29, which has been brought into an upright position, does not exceed the guide-side boundary line of the bed frame 10 during the pivoting movement of the support frame middle section 22. This makes it possible to arrange the bed frame 10 on the guide side in a space-saving manner on a wall or the like, or to equip it with a side rest 14. In this position, the support frame foot section 30 can be tilted into an upright position via the pivot axis 28 (see Fig. 1 and Fig. 3), whereby the mattress support frame 21 is brought into the shape of a chair.

As already mentioned, the support frame foot part 30 can be pivoted into a horizontal position at its longitudinal section 33 and thus serves as a support for the feet of the person P.

In its position pivoted by 90° to the guide 15, the mattress support frame 21 can be brought into any position along the guide 15 between the headboard 11 and the footboard 12, whereby the respective end position, either at the headboard 11 or at the footboard 12, simultaneously provides the person P to be cared for with the opportunity to support themselves on the headboard 11 or the footboard 12 and thus makes it significantly easier for this person P to get out of bed, provided that the person P is able to walk. The mobility of the mattress support frame 21 within the bed frame 10 along the guide 15 gives a bedridden person in need of care the opportunity to reach objects placed in the vicinity of the bed frame 10 without having to seek the help of nursing staff. This is made significantly easier if both the sliding movement of the mattress support frame 21 along the guide 15 and the pivoting movement of the mattress support frame 21 as well as the pivoting movement of the support frame head part 29 and the support frame foot part 30 are motor-driven, with a control device for this being operated by the bedridden person.

Furthermore, with the pivoted mattress support frame 21 arranged in the form of a chair on the head part 11 or foot part 12 in conjunction with the guide 15 fixed to the side edges of the head and foot parts, it is possible, due to the free space achieved, to position a wheelchair or nursing chair (not shown) within the bed frame 10 in such a way that the person P can transfer from his now sitting position in the nursing bed either by his own strength with the aid of the handle 36 which can be brought into the correct position using the positionable support device 30 or with the help of others to the wheelchair or nursing chair or vice versa from a wheelchair or nursing chair into the bed.

In addition, the person P is able to change his or her lying position by 180° within the bed frame 10 thanks to the all-round pivoting capability of the central part 22 of the support frame provided by the rotation axis 20. After the change has been made, the head part 11 takes over the function of the foot part 12 and vice versa.

Claims (20)

1. Bed frame with a mattress frame which has a support frame middle part, a support frame head part and a support frame foot part, of which the support frame head part and the support frame foot part can be pivoted about horizontal axes of rotation relative to the support frame middle part, wherein the support frame middle part is guided in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the bed frame on a guide in at least a largely horizontal orientation when the support frame head part or support frame foot part is in an at least approximately upright position within the bed frame and is mounted so as to be pivotable about a vertical axis of rotation, characterized in that the guide ( 15 ) is arranged laterally offset from an imaginary central axis (M) running in the longitudinal direction of the bed frame ( 10 ). 2. Bed frame according to claim 1, characterized in that the guide ( 15 ) is provided on the lateral edges of the bed frame ( 10 ). 3. Bed frame according to claims 1-2, characterized in that the guide ( 15 ) runs between the head part ( 11 ) and the foot part ( 12 ) of the bed frame ( 10 ) and is arranged on these. 4. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-3, characterized in that the guide ( 15 ) is fixed at least approximately to the section of the bed frame ( 10 ) near the floor, to its foot part ( 12 ) and its head part ( 11 ). 5. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-4, characterized in that the guide ( 15 ) is designed as a guide element (15.1) of a ball- or roller-bearing guide carriage ( 16 ). 6. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-5, characterized in that the guide ( 15 ) comprises a guide element (15.1) with a flat profile in cross section. 7. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-6, characterized in that the guide element (15.1) is rectangular in cross section with a horizontally arranged longer rectangular side. 8. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-6, characterized in that the guide element (15.1) is rectangular in cross section, the longer side of the rectangle being arranged at least approximately vertically. 9. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-6, characterized in that the guide element (15.1) is oval in cross section, the longer oval side being arranged at least approximately horizontally. 10. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-6, characterized in that the guide element (15.1) is oval in cross section, the longer oval side being arranged at least approximately vertically. 11. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-10, characterized in that the guide element (15.1) supports the mattress frame (21.) at its support frame middle part ( 22 ) by means of the guide carriage ( 16 ) which has means ( 17 ) by means of which the support frame middle part ( 22 ) can be moved transversely to the direction of extension of the guide ( 15 ). 12. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-11, characterized in that the means are designed as additional guide carriages ( 17 ) and have a vertical axis of rotation ( 20 ) on which the support frame middle part ( 22 ) is pivotably mounted. 13. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-12, characterized in that the support frame foot part ( 30 ) and the support frame head part ( 29 ) are longer than the support frame middle part ( 22 ), the support frame middle part has at least approximately the seat depth of a commercially available chair. 14. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-13, characterized in that the support frame head part ( 29 ) is longer than the support frame foot part ( 30 ), wherein the support frame head part is longer than the support frame middle part ( 22 ). 15. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-14, characterized in that the support frame foot part ( 30 ) has an at least approximately horizontally extending axis of rotation (31), whereby the support frame foot part ( 30 ) is divided into two longitudinal sections ( 32 , 33 ) which can be arranged at least approximately at right angles to one another, wherein the longitudinal sections ( 32 , 33 ) can be locked at least in their continuous alignment with one another. 16. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-15, characterized in that at least one support element ( 25 , 26 ) which can be brought into its support position for supporting the support frame head part ( 29 ) or support frame foot part ( 30 ) in at least an approximately horizontal position is provided on the support frame middle part ( 22 ). 17. Bed frame according to one of claims 1-16, characterized in that a carrying device ( 38 ) extending over the length of the bed frame ( 10 ) is provided on which a handle ( 36 ) graspable by a bedridden person P is arranged so as to be longitudinally displaceable. 18. Bed frame according to claim 1, 7, characterized in that the support device ( 38 ) is formed by a U-shaped bracket, one bracket leg ( 40 ) of which is fastened to the foot part ( 12 ) and the other bracket leg ( 40 ) of which is fastened to the head part ( 11 ) and on the bracket base ( 39 ) of which the handle ( 36 ) is arranged. 19. Bed frame according to claim 18, characterized in that the bracket legs ( 40 ) are designed to be telescopically adjustable in height. 20. Bed frame according to claim 18, characterized in that the bracket base ( 39 ) can be arranged transversely to the longitudinal direction of the bed frame ( 10 ) in at least two different positions to the width of the bed frame.
