Abstract

A chain weight exercise device comprising one or more chain segments constructed from one or more links composed of one or more gauges, a handle, a fastener which connects and secures at least one of a first end of the chain segment or a second end of the chain segment to a first end of the handle.

Description

CHAIN WEIGHT EXERCISE DEVICE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0002] The present disclosure relates to a chain weight exercise device, more specifically but not by way of limitation, a chain weight exercise device that utilizes chain segments to provide weight and resistance over a plurality of configurations.
BACKGROUND
[0003] Current exercise devices generally require a substantial number of components, which contributes to complex assembly and a significant high purchase price.
Additionally, although portable forms of exercise devices currently exist, they are typically limited in their application as well as their ability to be modified for various users.
[0004] G.B. Pat. No. 2,571,091 A (Keys) discloses a fitness apparatus comprising a length of chain enclosed in a silicone or plastic sleeve which can attach to both ends of the length of chain in a closed loop position. Shortcomings include an inability to add additional weight to an existing apparatus, as well the bulkiness of the sleeve reduces the portability of the apparatus.
[0005] U.S. Pat. No. 2016/0346594 Al (Homewood) discloses a forearm exercise device comprising a ring member, handle and chain. Shortcomings include the device's limited scope of application and the inability to easily attach the device to a variety of handles.
[0006] U.S. Pat. No. 2009/0156374 Al (Miyahira) discloses an exercise device comprising a handle attached to multiple chain segments where the links in the chain segments increase in size and mass from the handle towards the end of the chain. Shortcomings include the inability to easily attach additional chain segments and/or a variety of handles to the device as well as the necessity for the device to comprise at least two segments of chain with two separate gauges.

[0008] There is a need for an exercise device that is portable, inexpensive, may be easily assembled and modified by a single individual, and is applicable across a wide range of users.
BRIEF SUMMARY
[0009] It is the object of the present invention to provide a chain weight exercise device.
[0010] In accordance with an aspect of the invention, there is provided a chain weight exercise device comprising one or more chain segments constructed from one or more links composed of one or more gauges, a handle, a fastener which connects and secures at least one of a first end of the chain segment or a second end of the chain segment to a first end of the handle.
[0011] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the handle is triangle shaped.
[0012] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the handle is rod-shaped.
[0013] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the handle is U-shaped.
[0014] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the handle is a bar.
[0015] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the handle is a strap and the strap may be lined with one or more the chain segments.
[0016] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the fastener is a carabiner.
[0017] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, a vest may be lined with one or more of the chain segments.
[0018] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, a cable and a pulley are connected between one or more of the chain segments and the handle via one or more the fasteners.
[0019] In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the fastener may connect one or more links located throughout the chain segment.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0027] The details of one or more embodiments of the subject matter of this specification are set forth in the accompanying drawings and the description below. Other features, aspects, and advantages of the subject matter will become apparent from the description, the drawings, and the claims.

[0029] FIG. 1 depicts a chain weight exercise device with a triangle shaped handle 100 as in one embodiment. The triangle shaped handle 102 is shown with a ring 104 attached to a first end of the triangle shaped handle 106 and a grip at a second end of the triangle shaped handle 108 which enables a user to firmly hold the triangle shaped handle 102 of the chain weight exercise device. The triangle shaped handle 102 may be connected and secured to a fastener 110 through opening the gate 112 of the fastener 110, latching the fastener 110 through the ring 104 of the triangle shaped handle 102 and closing the gate of the fastener 110. Examples of locking mechanisms for the gate 112 of the fastener 110 include, but are not limited to, screw-locks, twist-locks, push-locks, twist-and-push locks, multiple-levers, magnetic and double-gate.
[0030] Furthermore, this example shows an embodiment of the chain weight exercise device comprising three chain segments. The chain segments of the chain weight exercise device may be constructed from one or more links, composed of one or more gauges. The chain segments are shown connected and secured to the fastener 110 through opening the gate 112 of the fastener 110, latching the fastener 110 through a link 114 located at the first end of the chain segment 116 for each chain segment 118. In additional embodiments, the fastener 110 may connected to both the first end of the chain segment 116 and the second end of the chain segment 120, looping the chain segment 118. The composition of the chain weight exercise device allows for portability, quick and effortless assembly and modification for application across a wide range of users.
[0031] In additional embodiments, the fastener 110 may connected one or more chain segments, where adding additional chain segments increases the weight of the chain weight exercise device as well as the amount of force required by a user to perform an exercise with the modified device. In additional embodiments, the fastener 110 may connected one or more links located throughout the chain segment 118, which may alter the distribution of weight across the chain weight exercise device and require engagement of one or more muscles not otherwise activated. In additional embodiments, the chain segments may be composed of one or more gauges, where modifying the gauge of one or more chain segments alters the weight of the chain segments. In additional embodiments, the fastener is a carabiner.
[0032] FIG. 2 depicts a chain weight exercise device with a rod-shaped handle 200 as in one embodiment. The rod-shaped handle 202 is shown with a ring 104 attached to a first end of the rod-shaped handle 204 and a grip extending from the first end of the rod-shaped handle 204 to a second end of the rod-shaped handle 206 which enables a user to firmly hold the chain weight exercise device. The rod-shaped handle 202 may be connected and secured to a fastener 110 through opening the gate 112 of the fastener 110, latching the fastener 110 through the ring 104 of the rod-shaped handle 202 and closing the gate of the fastener 110. Furthermore, this example shows an embodiment of the chain weight exercise device comprising two chain segments with a slightly thicker gauge than the chain segments in FIG. 1.
[0033] FIG. 3 depicts a chain weight exercise device with an adjustable strap 300 as in one embodiment. The strap 302 is shown with two rings attached to an end of a strap 302 which may be attached to a user or an additional object which enables a user to perform alternative exercises with the chain weight exercise device. The strap 302 may be connected and secured to a fastener 110 through opening the gate 112 of the fastener 110, latching the fastener 110 through the ring 104 of the rod-shaped handle 202 and closing the gate of the fastener 110. Examples for strap application include, but are not limited to, upper arm, lower arm, wrist, ankle, waist, calf and thigh.
[0034] Furthermore, this example shows an embodiment of the chain weight exercise device comprising two chain segments with a slightly thicker gauge than the chain segments in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2. In additional embodiments, a vest may be lined with one or more said chain segments. Examples of vest application include, but are not limited to, adults, children, dogs and horses. In additional embodiments, the strap may be lined with one or more the chain segments.
[0035] FIG. 4 depicts a chain weight exercise device with pulley system and triangle shaped handle 400 as in one embodiment. In this example, a cable 402 which runs along a pulley 404 connects a triangle shaped handle 102 and three chain segments. The triangle shaped handle 102 is shown with a ring 104 attached to a first end of the triangle shaped handle 106 and a grip is present at a second end of the triangle shaped handle 108 which enables a user to firmly hold the triangle shaped handle 102 of the chain weight exercise device. The triangle shaped handle 102 is shown connected to the cable 402 at a first end of the cable 406 with a fastener 110 attached to a second end of the cable 408.
[0036] Furthermore, the three chain segments are shown connected and secured to the fastener 110. In additional embodiments, a cable 402 and a pulley 404 are connected between one or more chain segments and a handle via one or more fasteners.
[0037] FIG. 5 depicts a chain weight exercise device with pulley system and U-shaped rope 500 as in one embodiment. In this example, a cable 402 which runs along a pulley 404 connects a U-shaped handle 502 and three chain segments. The U-shaped handle 502 is shown with a ring 104 attached to a midpoint of the U-shaped handle 504 and a grip is present at each end of the U-shaped handle 502 which enables a user to firmly hold the U-shaped handle 502 of the chain weight exercise device. The U-shaped handle 502 is shown connected to the cable 402 at a first end of the cable 406 with a fastener 110 attached to a second end of the cable 408. Furthermore, the three chain segments are shown connected and secured to the fastener 110.
[0038] FIG. 6 depicts a chain weight exercise device with pulley system and bar 600 as in one embodiment. In this example, a cable 402 which runs along a pulley 404 connects a bar 602 and two chain segments. The bar 602 is shown with two rings attached near the midpoint of the bar 602 and a grip at each end of the bar 602 which enables a user to firmly hold the bar 602 of the chain weight exercise device. The bar 602 is shown connected to the cable 402 at a first end of the cable 406 where the cable splits into two segments and attaches to the two rings. Furthermore, the two chain segments are shown connected and secured to the fastener 110 which is attached to a second end of the cable 408.

It is understood that various omissions or substitutions of equivalents are contemplated as circumstance may suggest or render expedient but is intended to cover the application or implementation without departing from the spirit or scope of the claims of the present invention.

Claims (11)

What is claimed is:
1. A chain weight exercise device comprising:
one or more chain segments constructed from one or more links composed of one or more gauges;
a handle;
a fastener which connects and secures at least one of a first end of said chain segment or a second end of said chain segment to a first end of said handle.
2. The chain weight exercise device of claim 1 wherein said handle is triangle shaped.
3. The chain weight exercise device of claim 1 wherein said handle is rod-shaped.
4. The chain weight exercise device of claim 1 wherein said handle is U-shaped.
5. The chain weight exercise device of claim 1 wherein said handle is a bar.
6. The chain weight exercise device of claim 1 wherein said handle is a strap.
7. The chain weight exercise device of claim 6 wherein said strap may be lined with one or more said chain segments.
8. The chain weight exercise device of claim 1 wherein said fastener is a carabiner.
9. The chain weight exercise device of claim 1 wherein a vest may be lined with one or more said chain segments.
10. The chain weight exercise device of claim 1 wherein a cable and a pulley are connected between one or more of said chain segments and said handle via one or more said fasteners.
11. The chain weight exercise device of claim 1 wherein said fastener may connected one or more links located throughout the chain segment.
