What we do

Conservation through advocacy
We advocate on environmental issues impacting birds, other wildlife, and people in Central and Northern New York and beyond.

Building community through education
We provide free programs, bird walks, and junior birder activities to share our passion and commitment to our local birds, other wildlife, and their habitats.
Protecting habitat through our sanctuaries
We protect more than 165 acres of wildlife habitat at two Sanctuaries. We manage these Sanctuaries for birds, other wildlife, and native plants and provide accessible walking trails that are free and open to the public.

Advancing science through research
We study birds in their natural habitats with the goal of understanding and aiding management of these populations to ensure their survival and protect their ecosystems.
Some of our current projects include: Spring Hawk Watch at Derby Hill Bird Observatory, MAPS Bird Banding at Baltimore Woods, Bald Eagle Surveys on Onondaga Lake, Monitoring Great Lakes Piping Plover on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario.
Grants & Scholarships
We provide annual scholarships to Hog Island Audubon Camp to give local educators the tools to share the importance of birds and environmental conservation to youth in our communities.
