Why Men Cry.............

..................when they drop 5 file boxes full of figures!
That's when!!
As I'm painting up some Moors for Tangiers I thought I'd have a look in my shed
to find my EL Cid/Moor collection, just to see what I actually have. (They've not seen
the light of day for some time??)

I was quite surprised to find 7 file boxes full to the brim with figures, all from my WAB days long ago. There were even  some painted by Fran, that I'd forgotten I even bought??
While some of the other
figures need to go on ebay fast, they were painted in my early wargaming days with what
looks like a 4 inch brush and a tin of Dulux!
But........while sorting through the 6th box I knocked the bloody lot off my desk.......
%$£*(&@^$£"!!!!!
I cannot type what I said
but I think you can probably guess.
I looked down at the mess on the floor and could of cried!

When I'd recovered from the shock and the mourning set in, (which was around 2 hours)
I tried to put them back in their boxes , it took me well over an hour to put all the figures minus spears, shield's, swords and Christ knows what else, back in their boxes!
Now I gotta admit, some looked a hell of a lot better all smashed and broke.
But to say I'm gutted doesn't quite cut it!

But on the bright side, I've ripped up my Gripping Beast shopping list for SELWG next Sunday.
Anyone else going??

Cavalier 2013 - Bring and Buy Rant!

As you may be aware some of the Rejects went along to Cavalier Wargame show in Tonbridge on Sunday, I was going to post some pics of the games at the show today, but that'll have to wait, I need to get these three words off my chest first.
BRING AND BUY!!

Once again as some of you know myself and fellow Reject, Postie, have been painting up figures to sell for our little adventure otherwise known as Battleaxe Painting Service. We've sold various figures on ebay, but thought we'd try our luck at a bring and buy.
Now if your a regular at UK shows, you'll have noticed that the bring and buys have been getting worse and worse each year, we've always put it down to the internet and eBay  Why bother to take your figures to a bring and buy when you can flog them on ebay???
We took 10 units to sell and only sold 4, I've got to admit I thought, ok hoped?,  they'd all sell obviously, perhaps we overpriced them, I don't think so though, more like under priced them, perhaps people just don't have the money to spend on painted figures?
But on Sunday we found the main reason why bring and buys are full of other gamers crap, with hardly a decent figure or bargain in sight.

Thieving Fecking Bastards!

Me!

Just before  the end of the show, me and Postie, happily went to collect our dosh and figures that didn't sell and found out that some shitbag had stolen one of our units. The unit in question were a 25mm Napoleonic unit, the 5th/60th Royal American Rifles, sorry no pics!! There were 12 figures, up for a very reasonable £40, but quite obviously £40 was far too much for the $£^&!* who stole them.
I do hope he's very happy with them. I would very much like to meet this fine fellow and shake his hand!!

I was also quite miffed with the chap on the bring and buy, who wouldn't even look me in the eye and kept his head down, I know it wasn't his fault what had happened, but when he asked me to sign the bottom of the form if I was happy with the sale, I had to stop myself from screwing the form up and stuffing it somewhere!!!!! There was no apology, just a " Well if they turn up, we've got your mobile number" Yeh right!!!!!
No wonder there was a "TWWS accepts no liability for loss or damage of items" clause on the form, they'd probably end up owing more than they made.
Fran said he'd seen one other poor sap running up and down the bring and buy looking for his missing item, just before me and Postie came in,  I just wonder how much other stuff went missing during the day and at other wargames shows?
Well it was a hard lesson to learn, but I'll never again try and sell anything else at a bring and buy again!!

Mad Blogger Rant & Salute 2012

Now I'm normally quite a mild mannered sort of chap, just ask Fran!!.........BUT
Is anyone else getting pi$$ed off with the new captcha word verification.
The old version was bad enough, but the new "Please prove you're not a Robot", is really getting on my tits!!!!
"I am not a Robot I am a free man!!!!!!"
I'm 43 and wear glasses, and sit quite close the my computer and still can't read the bloody words, here's one I had earlier............ any ideas???

Obviously researches. with a full stop!! is very clear, but what the hell is the next, can I call it a word???? r, π, skull, backwards B and an S with a funny line at the bottom???
Now I know Blogger have put it there for a reason, to stop spam, but for Gods sake, give us the bloody chance to read it, so we can type it in!!!!!!
So I'll plead with you fellow bloggers and shout, forget the spam, you can always delete it, but please "Turn the effin thing OFF!!!"
Several blogs that I comment on quite regularly have this stupid thing on still, I've tried to comment, but after getting the captcha wrong a few times I've given up, either that or smash the keyboard up!!!

Now I've got that off my chest..................

Unfortunately, The Rejects will not now be appearing at Salute (massive blogger groan). As some of you may have already known we were due to take part in Paul Darnell's WW2 skirmish game, but he's had to cancel. Gotta admit myself and Fran are quite gutted about this, we had planned to meet a few of you at the game table, but alas its not to be :0(
However myself, Fran and the rest of the Rejects are still going to the show to spend our hard earned (yawn) dosh, we're also meeting two Canadian bloggers Curt and Dallas for a beer at a pub near Salute, then the next day they're both visiting Reject HQ for an ACW game. Looks like its gonna be a great weekend!!!

Woof! or is it Bark at the Moon???

Aaarrrggghhh!!!!!! Apologies the first part of this post is a little bit of a Rant!

Its been over a week since my last post, what's going on??? I here you ask. Well the simple answer is School Holidays!!!!!! The wife has got herself a new job, which means school holidays are a problem from now on, so I was Told,  I need to take some holiday to look after the 2 youngest brats. Fair enough I suppose, now this is where things went tits up, I made a plan, I should know by now at 43 years of age never make a plan, for me, it never works. So first day of my holiday what happens?? My old war wound comes back to haunt me, actually I pulled my back out, when my back goes it goes big time, all I did was bend over to pick up the TV remote, that I'd asked the kids to pick up about 23 times, it felt like that mad axe killer in all the crap horror films came up behind me and chopped the back in half! So all my decorating, figure painting, rule writing Call of Duty playing and kid entertaining went out of the window, instead of that I sat for the week watching crap kids TV,  and was slowly driven crazy by Holly and Nieve arguing all the bloody time.... deep breath!!!!! I don't really remember the first day too much, my wife who was luckily off that day gave me one of her painkillers, (naughty I know), I drifted off, wide awake to a happy place with no pain and elves and fairies, (I watch far too much kids TV)
Anyway today my wife has taken brats 3 & 4 to a farm, brat No2 is starting a new Saturday job and Brat No1 is up her boyfriend's, probably?? So its me and the dog in the house for 4 long hours....ah bliss!!!!!

So I've very carefully taken the opportunity to take some photos....... So after that big moan above here we go!!

As some of you will already know, my previous post was about the three bears, today's is about their fellow woodland creature... The Wolf!!
After I bought the bears on ebay I started to try and think of other animals that I could possibly use to make trouble for the troops in the FIW. I searched the net for a company who sold 15mm wolves, sadly it seems nobody does, apart from fantasy looking wolves, which were either far too big or just looked silly. I even had Postie searching all his old wargame catalogues, he came up with an idea though, I'd previously bought some 15mm dogs from Irregular Miniatures, this were to use in my Indian village and perhaps as the faithful hound of a British Colonel during the FIW.
So a quick call to Irregular Minis, I ordered 6 x FAN11 Alsation dogs, and hey presto we have a wolf pack, ok they don't really look like wolves, but they do fine for me!!
Thanks have got to go to Barry S, for giving me lots of ideas, click his name for his blog or this one for his Photobucket site, There's some beautiful work here, there's lots there that I've got to make!!
