Lee Fischer looks ahead to the screening of Geoff Barrow’s co-produced first movie, released via Invada Films
Since Portishead went on hiatus, Geoff Barrow has becoming increasingly involved in the film world through his Invada label, and he recently stepped away from his next band BEAK > to concentrate on the movies. After releasing and / or composing a series of superb soundtracks, he’s now co-produced his first movie via Invada Films. Game has been created by an impressive, largely Bristol-affiliated team including director John Minton. The movie stars Marc Bessant and Jason Williamson from Sleaford Mods. A taut two-hander set in and around a rave-era Bristol, with a crook and a poacher (Bessant and Willamson respectively) facing up to each other, the movie has already earned some good reviews for its tension and invention.
And on Tuesday November 25th the magnificent Tyneside Cinema is hosting a screening of the film, followed by a Q&A with the two leads and the director. The screening kicks off at 6pm in the Classic and you can get tickets here.
