	SCENE 1	Elmo greets the viewer as he and Luis decorate the Rodriguezes' apartment for Gabi's 8th birthday party. Maria gives her daughter a kiss on the forehead, but she and Luis find Gabi has a high temperature. Gabi says she feels fine, but admits she's also a little tired. Maria decides to take her to the doctor while Elmo and Luis stay behind to continue with decorations, hoping Gabi isn't sick on her birthday.

	SCENE 2	Maria and Gabi return from the doctor, having confirmed that Gabi has a light case of the flu and she can't be around other kids. Due to this, they worry that her birthday party will have to be called off, but assure her it's okay to be sad (Luis: "Yeah, it's your party and you can cry if you want to."). They head up to their apartment to rest while Elmo tells the viewers, "This isn't a happy birthday... This is an un-happy birthday!" He thinks of how to make it better.

	SCENE 3	Luis has called everybody and informed them Gabi is sick, and that they'll have her birthday party when she recovers. Maria says that even though she's too sick to have her party, she can still receive her birthday gifts. They include an acoustic guitar, a Spanish-speaking doll, and a Mexican piñata which she whacks to release the candy. They all have a fun time, especially Gabi, and Luis reminds her it's okay to be sad; Gabi says it's hard to be sad with all the great gifts and candy!

	SCENE 4	Elmo has gathered the gifts from Gabi's friends, planning to deliver them to her house in order to make her happy. He runs into the Count, and asks if he has gotten everybody ready for a surprise. He has, but before they can bring the gifts to Gabi, he must count all of the presents. Since it's Gabi's birthday, he decides to count them in Spanish but briefly forgets how to translate "seven." The weight of the presents starts getting heavier on Elmo's hands, but once the Count finishes counting all ten presents, Elmo can't stand it anymore and collapses.

	SCENE 5	Gabi is feeling sad that her party would've started by now if she hadn't been sick. The doorbell rings and Luis opens it to meet a postal worker (Fran Brill) with a singing telegram and a special package for Gabi from Puerto Rico. The deliverer sings her a Spanish telegram, though she doesn't know what it means; Maria explains it is a Puerto Rican birthday greeting. Gabi opens the package, which contains a pogo stick sent from her grandmother. The deliverer also learns Gabi is sick, and reiterates that it's okay to be sad on her birthday. "Somehow, I had a feeling she was gonna say that," Gabi deadpans.

	SCENE 6 cont'd	Maria talks with her mother on the phone before handing it to Gabi; she also gives her the same "sad on your birthday" spiel repeated by everyone. The doorbell rings, but Luis only finds the presents from Gabi's friends on the doorstep. Elmo calls over from outside the window and the Rodriguezes rush to the window to find everyone standing outside (including Big Bird, Snuffy, Zoe, Bob, Celina, Gina, Gordon, Miles, Michael, the Count, and Elmo), who all sing "Happy Birthday to You" in Spanish. The Count repeats it's okay for Gabi to be sad, but Gabi isn't sad - she's very happy! The big group sings the song again as Bob announces the sponsors in voiceover.
