SCENE 1 David deals with several cases of very fragile glassware in Hooper's Store. He must keep them safe from Maria (whose groceries can potentially bump into the boxes), Barkley (playing with his ball) and Big Bird (who skates through the store). David finally resolves to charge the store's sign to "CLOSED," keeping anybody else out. He then accidentally knocks the cases over with his broom handle.
