Drew Brees (b. 1979) is the quarterback for the New Orleans football team, the Saints. Brees appears in Sesame Street's 42nd season in a The Word of the Day segment; the episode debuted December 15, 2011. The segment was taped in April 2011 in Los Angeles; Brees brought his wife and two kids along to the taping.
According to Carol-Lynn Parente, "He's a great role model, and he's someone parents respect. That's important to us."
Brees was named Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the year in 2010, and the MVP of Super Bowl XLIV. The Brees Dream Foundation has raised millions to help New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
