Dear... is a documentary series that premiered on Apple TV+ on June 5, 2020. Produced by Emmy-winning filmmaker R.J. Cutler, the series centers around "game-changing icons and the people whose lives they’ve inspired," shown through fan letters and interviews.
Big Bird was one of the icons highlighted in episode six of the series. The beginning of the episode was taped on the Sesame Street set at Kaufman Astoria Studios, with appearances by Elmo, Grover, a Honker, Alan, and Nina. The episode uses footage from various Sesame Street episodes and inserts, as well as news reports about the show and Big Bird's cameo in The Muppet Movie. The episode ends with a dedication to Caroll Spinney.
