PIC FROM ESAM ALABSI FOR SOS ZOO AND BEAR RESCUE/MERCURY PRESS (PICTURED: ONE OF THE LEOPARD CUBS AT THE ABANDONED TAIZ ZOO IN YEMEN) Two extremely rare Arabian leopard cubs are the latest addition to more than 200 animals starving to death in an abandoned zoo in war-torn Yemen. Campaigners fighting to save the animals trapped in the closed zoo in Taiz, a city in southern Yemen, claim food supplies will run out in a week ñ leaving the adorable cubsí chances of survival hanging by a thread. Taiz Zoo is currently home to 26 Arabian leopards and the survival of the new cubs is paramount for the incredibly rare species with only 80 of the big cats still alive in the wild. Fundraisers have raised cash to feed the animals since the zoo was declared bankrupt in 2015 due to having no visitors as a result of the war but claim the animals at the former attraction could starve to death in just three weeks.
