Detectives in London have launched a double murder investigation after two women were found dead earlier this year. An investigation was launched after the deaths of two women, prompting the arrest of a 40-year-old man in connection with both deaths, and he remains in custody. Police were first called on Monday, 17 March, regarding reports of an unresponsive woman inside a building on the Aylesbury Estate, SE17. Despite efforts from paramedics, 53-year-old Carmenza Trujillo was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination could not establish the cause of her death, prompting further police enquiries in the investigation launched after the deaths of two women. On Sunday, 24 August, officers responded to another call after 39-year-old Sheryl Wilkins was found unresponsive on High Road, Tottenham. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, with a post-mortem once again unable to determine a cause of death. The investigation launched after the deaths of two women is ongoing. The same 40-year-old man, initially arrested on suspicion of Carmenza???s murder in April and released under investigation, was re-arrested on Thursday, 4 September by the Met???s Specialist Crime Command. He is now being questioned in relation to both women???s deaths. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, said: "This investigation launched after the deaths of two women has been our priority. ???My sympathy goes to the family and friends of both victims, who have been updated on this development and continue to be supported by specialist officers. No woman should feel unsafe in our city, and we know this news will cause concern across communities. Our investigation is continuing at pace and remains a priority. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting 1721/24AUG, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
