PICTURED Kieran Cameron Officers from Cheshire Police are appealing to the public for help to trace a man who has absconded from HMP Thorn Cross. Kieran Cameron was reported missing from Warrington prison at 9.20pm on Tuesday 6 January 2026. The 43-year-old is currently serving a 23-year-prison sentence for an attempted murder in Dorset in 2016. Cameron is described as white, around 5? 6? tall, of medium build, with heavily receding hair and a ginger and grey beard.

An Oxford community is using a historic Japanese method after a series of tyre slashings plagued the neighbourhood. Councillor David Henwood, who represents the Littlemore area of Oxford, said he is now patrolling four roads with a Hyoshigi, wooden clappers that have traditionally been used in Japanese theatres and by the country???s firefighters. A suburb has cut crime after locals unleashed a new deterrent - an historic Japanese method of banging sticks together.Residents in Oxford have turned to patrolling with Hy??shigi - after it was rocked by tyre slashings and even stabbings.Hy??shigi is a basic musical instrument consisting of two pieces of hardwood or bamboo connected by a thin ornamental rope. The clappers are played together to create a cracking sound - traditionally used in Japanese theatres and by night-watchmen.Its noise is used to let local people know that they are being watched over - and to warn would-be criminals away. Eliz Yusuf was given little Simba as a present for her 16th birthday. But the Yorkshire Terrier Poodle cross was taken during the raid. The 26-year-old has reported the burglary to cops. Other valuables were also stolen by the crooks. They included diamonds, gold coins and medals. She is willing to pay a reward to get her pooch, nine, back. ?He means the world to me,? Eliz told?NeedToKnow. ?Simba was a present from my father 10 years ago.? The pale tan dog was stolen from their house in leafy Meadowcroft Close, in Palmers Green, north London. English teacher Eliz added: ?Honestly, I?d say that our lives have been turned upside down. ?This has been truly devastating for all of us. ?We just want him back with us. He?s been such a big part of my life since I was 16.? She continued: ?I?m not asking for an explanation, I?m simply asking for him back. ?He is a senior dog and needs to come home.? Talking directly to the burglars, she said: ?I will pay you, please just return Simba safely.? Eliz works in Japan but jetted home to comfort her mum Chimen. The burglary took place on 16 December. But nearly three weeks on they have had no positive news. Pal Elle Mac said: ?I hope you get him back. ?It?s a horrible thing for anyone to do. ?It?s like stealing a baby.? Another added: ?Hopefully he returns home.? The Met Police has been approached for comment. Play Video Three teenage drug runners have been sentenced to a total of more than 23 years for killing a 51-year-old man, after selfies and videos taken on the night were used to place them at the scene. Anthony Marks, 51, was hit with a car bonnet before being chased down, stamped on and beaten with a gin bottle in a vicious county lines retribution attack. He was found by the Met Police with serious injuries to his face and arms at King?s Cross Station at around 05:25am on Saturday, 10 August 2024. He died from his injuries in hospital on Saturday, 14 September 2024. Photos from the night show the teenagers ? who can now be named as they are aged over 18 ? posing for selfies both before and after they carried out the brutal killing. Met detectives secured the conviction after tracking the assailants across CCTV footage, identifying suspects from across London and tracing the drug gang through forensic analysis of mobile phones to piece together the events of the night. Jaidee Bingham, aged 16 at the time of the attack and known as ?Ghost?, Eymaiyah Lee Bradshaw-McKoy, then aged 16, and Mia Campos-Jorge, then aged 17, were convicted at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 30 October 2025.

An investigation has been launched after a suspected imposter dressed as a highly decorated naval officer took centre stage at a town's Remembrance Sunday event. The mystery man turned up unannounced at the war memorial in Llandudno, north Wales, wearing the Royal Navy uniform of a Rear Admiral. He impressed local dignitaries with his magnificent display of military medals pinned to his chest including the prestigious DSO. It was only afterwards when the local town hall started getting messages from people questioning whether the man was an imposter that suspicions grew.
